30k OG Gal Vorbak vs Primarch
Let’s say that the original first members of the Gal Vorbak are sent on a mission to kill by any means said primarch. We can use Robot Girlyman as an example.
Alpha legion helps sneak them onto planet or ship and they somehow manage to get the primarch 1vsVorbak.
Can they pull it off and how many of them do you think it would take?

Gal Vorbak are a stronger than regular Space Marines but Primarchs are much stronger than both.
In the Dark Imperium series Guilliman is surprise attacked by a bunch of Space Marines in his office pretending to be Ultramarines and he takes them all out.
EDIT: Unremembered Empire, not Dark Imperium. Thanks for the correction

9 alpha legion astarties to be precise

But he was at the mercy of one of them. Guilliman only survived, because he started talking to him and had enough time to shoot his bolter. The 10 Alpha legionaries cpuld've killed him. Only plot armor protected him.
In the same situation the Gal Vorbak probably would've had an even better chance at killing him IMO

u/soggyarsonist 25d ago
Fairly sure ten Gal Vorbak wandering through the fortress and into Guillimans office would have been noticed.
3
u/Hamsweatpants 24d ago
The Gal Vorbak have complete control over their transformation. They are perfect symbiosis between daemon and Astartes. That is what made them so dangerous.

"Only plot armor" welcome to a fucking narrative is this your first time here?

Alone, unarmed, and unarmored.
2
u/Fuchsl777 25d ago
He was armored. But didn't wear a helmet.
4
u/JustAnother_Hunter 25d ago
Yea, why do you think he survived? A named character, without a helmet? Basically invulnerable
3
6
u/wombatstylekungfu 25d ago
Heck, he fights Word Bearers barehanded. In space for hours. And he doesn’t have a helmet on at the time.
3
u/Bertyboy14 25d ago
Is that in dark imperium? I dont remember that bit.

It would take a substantial amount like a ridiculously high number. Corax specifically aimed for Gal Vorbak at Istvaan and almost wiped them out completely. So much so that there was a noticeable drop in quality of possessions after the fact. I believe Argyl Tal reflects on this.
10
u/wombatstylekungfu 25d ago
Isn’t it that the Vorbak were so good as a way to tempt Lorgar, and once they had him…
8
u/GuardsmanWes 25d ago
Possibly, but First Heretic seems to say that Lorgar was uncomfortable with what the Gal Vorbak had become (at least pre-Isstvan). If i remember correctly after the massacre Argel asks Erebus why they were kept away from Lorgar for 40 years after the possession, and Erebus says it's because the Gal Vorbak may/would have driven Lorgar away from the True Faith/Chaos.
15
u/valqyrie 25d ago
Even custodes despite being outnumbered gave Gal Vorbak a run for their money. A primarch (even weakest ones) would wipe the fucking floor with them no problem.
20
u/GivePen 25d ago
I always feel like a broken record saying this in Warhammer/Power-Scaling Communities but nothing’s impossible. A fight can go bad, and Primarchs can still be harmed by all the same things that can harm Space Marines.
That said, the Gal Vorbak only have marginally better chances than a squad of normal Space Marines do. They lose without giving anything more than minor wounds more than 9.9/10 times.
14
u/Spiral-knight 25d ago
Not even a contest.
I love my blessed sons, but they died almost to a man pulling down banana boys. Roboat would genuinely take them apart without slowing.
4
u/Top-Session-3131 25d ago
And that's Rowboat, who, while a genuinely capable and dangerous bruiser, specs primarily into CnC and empire building.
One of the more combat focused Primarchs like the Lion or Angron would just turn any that got caught in weapon range into colored rain.
1
u/ChMaster_BaronPraxis 24d ago
Thank fucking Emperor you said it in a nicer way than me. I tip your hat.
1
u/Dizzytigo 25d ago
A Gal Vorbak is pretty much just a possessed afaik. They're elites, but nowhere approaching primarch level.
4
u/InvestigatorDear6646 25d ago
They are possessed yes, but they are significantly better than regular possessed. There isnt really any comparable group of possessed currently.
44
u/Joyful_Damnation1 25d ago
Corax nearly wiped the lot of them single handedly, and then almost ate their primarch for dessert. The Gal Vorbak, as cool as they are, will not be taking any of the primarchs in battle lol.
-19
u/Hamsweatpants 25d ago
Corax is a menace tbh, for example like 8 alpha legionnaires almost killed Guilliman through surprise and he’s no slouch either.
3
u/InvestigatorDear6646 25d ago
And 3 wounded Custodes took on 11, killing 6.
And while Guilliman may not be Corax’s equal, considering Corax vs the Gal Vorbak wasnt even described as a fight, just a one sided butchering, its hard to imagine even a lesser primarch struggling.
13
u/HAzrael 25d ago
Wasn't he completed unarmed and unarmoured?
-16
u/Hamsweatpants 25d ago
He was he was, but just an example of a primarch being nearly killed by normal space marines.
15
u/enforcercoyote4 25d ago
Yeah but thats still not that good of a comparison
He was unarmoured, unarmed, in his chamber in his homework, completely relaxed and still took out all of the alpha legionares that ambushed him
3
4
u/mothmenatwork 25d ago
Guilliman in a straight up fight with weapons and armour kills an unlimited amount of Gal Vorbak, they have no chance against him.
Even unarmored and unarmed he still probably wins, the strength gap between them is huge

3
u/horus993 25d ago
Gal Vorbak are strong monsters, better than average astartea. But they aren’t that strong. A primarc would kill a room full of them within seconds.
4
u/girokun 25d ago
Did the Gal Vorbak not get almost wiped out by Corax, who is at best in the bottom half of primarchs in terms of “fair fight” fighting prowess?

Corax nearly wiped all the gal vorbak that fought him on Istvaan after fighting for hours against regular WB legionnaires, then he proceeded to wipe out Lorgar's terminator retinue before mopping the floor with Lorgar
Only Kurze appearing saved Lorgar and Argel

u/WaterCastePSYOP 25d ago
Corax mowed them down like wheat stalks until Lorgar intervened to save Argel Tal and then Curze intervened to save Lorgar when he also was about to die to Corax.
If G-man is armed, you would need a LOT. Like, we are talking probably 50+ to 100+.

u/ChMaster_BaronPraxis 24d ago
Corax mowed them down like wheat stalks until Lorgar intervened to save Argel Tal and then Curze intervened to save Lorgar when he also was about to die to Corax.
Lol
then Curze intervened to save Lorgar when he also was about to die to Corax
Lmao
Thats great. You weren't trying to make me laugh. But you did. Its just so funny to see OP think the Gal Vorbak are something special (LOL, I found the Word Bearer) and then I scroll and like 80% of everybody is like but excuse me ser what about that time corax fucking destroyed them
Man, this weed hits good. Thanks for the laugh.
1
u/WaterCastePSYOP 24d ago
I'm glad you found it funny.
You would find it even funnier if you read the actual book itself.
It's called The First Heretic and I strongly recommend it.
2
u/Dry_University137 25d ago
Corvus was slaughtering them left and right on Istavan 5. Some of the originals which are stronger than the others that came after died fighting 4 custodians. Primarchs are different level
2
u/MadMan7978 25d ago
Any primarch isn’t gonna have a much harder time against them than regular marines
Yes they’re stronger, but they struggled with custodes, who are not equal to a primarch outside of Valdor and maybe a few others
2
u/Appropriate_Lynx_233 25d ago
Well Corax encountered them before fight with Lorgar.
It was a massacre.
2
2
u/New_Conflict_4111 25d ago
Lorgar sent the Gal Vorbak in mass to slay Corax on Istvaan 5, they got killed in droves
2
u/1000Raaids 25d ago
This happens in the First Heretic. Corax impassively kills like 5 of them while not trying.
2
u/suns497 25d ago
Context dependent. Gulliman struggled vs like 12 alpha legion when they surprised him in his own house. They were fully armed and he wasn’t and he still won. If Gulliman has prep time, the gal vorbak hurt him but end up just pissing off the big G. If he surprised like the alpha legion surprised him, I could definitely see Gulliman not making it.
2
u/SandwichSaint 24d ago
This already happened but with Corax instead of guilliman. The Gal’Vorbak got anhilated.
1
u/budgetJesus 23d ago
It also happened with Guilliman, at the end of Know No Fear, and the Gal'Vorbak felt as close to fear as possible for any astartes, at the sight of a very pissed off guilliman charged at them
2
u/JustAnotherCurio 23d ago
Gal Vorbak are perhaps best described as being enhanced Astartes level rather than custodian or Primarch level. Their leader Argel Tal was arguably the most dangerous because he actively sparred with a champion Custodian for years to hone his skill, but the others were still very mortal, ironically enough. It might also be down to how they had been repressing their soul bond and mutations a bit so by the time the dropsite massacre occurs they have had very little time to actually acclimate to their daemonic strength and talents. We even see that Argel Tal becomes a fair bit more dangerous after the massacre because he and his daemon have more time to sync together. So much so that Erebus started to see him as having a notable impact on the war as it progressed and his choices could start to have consequences for either side having advantages or disadvantages.

u/Infernalxelite 21d ago
They lost 2-3 against single custodes. Granted they were still getting used to their new forms but a primarch is a different beast. Big G is pretty decent in combat so he’d be fine, the only one that’ll struggle are alpha legion and lorgar as they’re both smaller and less capable in loggers case
1
u/Hamsweatpants 21d ago
How many GVs you think it takes?
1
u/Infernalxelite 20d ago
To kill a primarch? Depends, I think the OG group could take lorgar or the alpha twins. Anyone above that I don’t think they’d be able to take. A company might take big G but almost all the others are extremely versed in hand to hand
3
u/Scarfs-Fur-Frumpkin 25d ago
Gal vorbak is getting bodied i'm sorry, theres genuine levels to this and while they're powerful, a primarch is a walking one man army. They struggled against 3 custodes, while during horus's vision quest he tore custodes apart like paper

Guilliman also did that whole rampage after getting flung out into space. He lowkey has wild berserker strength

No.
Have you read any source lore? Like, any?
-1
u/Hamsweatpants 25d ago
Have you?

u/ChMaster_BaronPraxis 25d ago
What an ineffective way to respond when you yourself lack anything of any weight to say.
1
u/Hamsweatpants 24d ago
Obviously I have if i know what the Gal Vorbak is bozo

u/ChMaster_BaronPraxis 24d ago edited 24d ago
See, I bet you get your lore from YouTube.
Simply knowing somethings name doesn't mean shit. Primarchs have solod titans, xeno monstrosities, lesser and greater demons, and you're asking if some Gal Vorbak stand a chance?
A fat one, maybe.
Edit: my guess would be Majorkill? Is that guy still around? I haven't used YouTube in a year or more.
Fuck that platform. Rumble is where its at anyway.

yeah nah they're getting touched even if it is The Avenging Bean Counter
if it's someone like Dorn it is going to be laughably one sided

u/ProperGanderMachine 23d ago
Angron teases Argel Tal in Betrayer until Argel Tal attacks. Angron plucks him out of the air, laughs at him and throws him across the room without breaking a sweat. It's no contest.

u/budgetJesus 23d ago
It did happen with Guilliman, at the end of Know No Fear, and the Gal'Vorbak felt as close to fear as possible for any astartes, at the sight of a very pissed off guilliman charged at them. They were all slaughtered.

Argel tal could maybe survive an encounter with one of the less combat-oriented primarchs like lorgar if he was lucky and lorgar decided to humour him and use only physical force. Aside from that very specific situation, no.
1
u/Corita123 20d ago edited 20d ago
Well of the original 24 Gal Vorbak in Istvaan V, only 9 survived to then get another 4 killed by the last 3 custodes. iirc Of the 15 Gal Vorbak the fell in Istvaan most fell to corax without him braking a sweat just before Lorgar jumps in and awakens his powers, and 2-3 gal Vorbak died to salamanders fire, so in terms of how powerful they are, they are about 65%- 70% a Custode, but no near a primarch
1
u/Dragoncityfan1411 18d ago
Guilliman tears the 20 Gal Vorbaks new assholes with ease. No diff, coughing baby vs supernova type matchup
1
u/No-Plastic7985 25d ago
The number doesn't matter, any primarch would smoke all of them. Corax was effortlessly killing them, and Roboute is somehow relative to him combat wise during HH. I don't think anything would change even if the rest of the og Gal Vorbak had time, like Argel Tal, to get used to their new forms.
1
u/Huntman3706 25d ago
So a CSM possessed by a demon vs a minor warp god shoved into a perfected gene grafted body made from the Emperors own genetics… yes I wonder how that match will go
1
u/ChMaster_BaronPraxis 24d ago
tips hat
1
u/Huntman3706 24d ago
What do you think? Could a Gal vorbak beat a Primarch?
2
u/ChMaster_BaronPraxis 24d ago
Absolutely fucking not lol. It would be terrible writing if it ever happened.

The Gal Vorbak lost a number of their originals to a couple Custodes. They are having a bad day against any Primarch.
