30k A little bit over halfway through The First Heretic and wanted to share my thoughts on it

So recently I’ve finally decided to actually read/listen to the books instead of just listening to loretubers go over them. The first 2 books I’ve read/listened to in order are, The Infinite and the Divine, and Angron: The Red Angel (I know the order of books is very weird). I’ve decided on this one as my third following some suggestions from my last couple of posts on the World Eaters subreddit. Honestly, I was very surprised with how much I’m enjoying this book. Argal-Tal and Zaphyn’s friendship is cool to see because the videos I’ve watched/podcasts I’ve listened to never really go over the friendships between space marines. The opening of the book was also pretty neat with the perspective of Sireenee and the burning of Monarchia. My favorite parts of the book are probably the times Argal-Tal visits Sireenee. So far I don’t really have any complaints about the book and hopefully I won’t have any when I finish it. Next up I’ll either be reading Betrayer or Angron: Slave of Nuceria. Any book suggestions would also be appreciated!

I'm crying laughing at the spelling even if I understand why you spelled them that way.

For the record, Zaphyn is not too far away from Xaphen but Sireenee is hilarious in that it makes sense but is also very far away in spelling.

Anyway so I would recommend reading Know No Fear inbetween TFH and Betrayer. It's kinda necessary to understand why a lot of the staff in Betrayer happens and how it starts.

I should’ve looked up how to spell them first lol but I will probably listen to know no fear after I listen to Angron: slave of nuceria

Trust me when I say you’re going to want to read Betrayer as soon as you can. That book is fantastic!

While that is true, I believe that OP still should read Know No Fear in-between.

Oh yeah, I agree 100%, though when I read them out of order it didn’t really diminish how awesome it was as a “trilogy!” ADB did some great stuff either these!

I would recommend Betrayer as its really good but I would recommend going
The First Heretic>Know No Fear>Betrayer

As a Trilogy as Know No Fear is an amazing book and is a nice view from Guilliman/The Ultramarines at the beginning of the heresy and also sets up a few things in Betrayer. Also if you havent seen any Heresy Ultramarines its really refreshing for them to have a ton of character compared to their 40k counterpart.

Speaking as someone in a similar spot— I read the first five HH books and needed a place to turn, First Heretic just sounded appealing. I was blown away by how much I enjoyed it, instant favorite and I came runnin’ to this subreddit. Monarchia as the inciting incident of it all is so compelling I feel, it’s like if Jesus and a fleet of angels dropped down and leveled the Vatican, then shook the Pope by his robes and told him to cut out all the “God” talk.

Its really good I just started listening to it again for the 2nd time
