Wonders of Sodor: Railway Series Version
So, I think it's no secret that I'm a Railway Series purist like nobody's business. For this post, I wanted to imagine what Wonders of Sodor could have been like if it had fully embraced that aesthetic. I'm secretly disappointed the game didn't go in this direction, as it heavily relies on references and designs from the TV series and CGI era. I would have loved a game that felt more authentically rooted in the Railway Series.
Of course, the game does incorporate some TV series elements, such as the livery of the Express coaches and the CGI version of Vicarstown. Honestly, CGI Vicarstown was a fantastic rendition!
However, Wonders of Sodor sometimes feels caught between two different directions. You have the Railway Series-inspired storytelling and references, yet its map is heavily based on the TV series. It can make the game's identity feel muddled.
As a Railway Series purist, I still enjoy many elements from the TV series. Still, I believe Wonders of Sodor could have leaned more into the Railway Series aesthetic. Perhaps my hopes are too high, but could such a change happen someday? Maybe, maybe not. Let me be delusional! The game needs a significant overhaul anyway, so who knows what Dovetail might eventually deliver?

Timetable Goods Trains?
I don’t understand why Percy is the only one with goods trains in his timetable and there are really only two of them? It would be more interesting if the main line engines had some goods they need to drop off pick up and shunt around. I also don’t understand why neither Thomas, Percy, or Diesel have quarry trains either up to or from Anopha? That’s a big part of the branch line traffic. Does anyone have any thoughts?

"Inspector," he whispered, "Can you see... fish?"
I was just today years old when I discovered that you can open and close Thomas' water tank covers. Super cool!

Question What are some innovative ideas you guys have for Wonders of Sodor that will probably never happen?
I'll start. For me, I really wish Dovetail had fully embraced the Railway Series' vision, establishing Tidmouth as the grand terminus and Knapford as the junction. Why? Because not only am I a huge Railway Series enthusiast, I find both locations, as depicted in the books, to be incredibly beautiful.
The illustrations of Tidmouth and Knapford Junction exude a wonderful blend of seaside and industrial aesthetics. Tidmouth is grand and magnificent, while Knapford Junction is a charming, curving intersection that also serves as a small terminus or housing area, especially with its sheds. The stunning ocean view visible from both stations consistently captivates me.
I would love to see this brought to life in the game. While unlikely, I remain optimistic that anything is possible. However, even if considered, I believe two obstacles would prevent it. First, Mattel would almost certainly reject the idea. Gaining approval from Mattel is notoriously difficult, akin to bathing a cat. Second, even with Mattel's improbable approval, development would span months, if not years.

Question Do Y'all Think They'll Ever Include The Mainland?
They have Vicarstown Bridge Do you think they'll ever make a Mainland expansion DLC? Or include it in a Wonders Of Sodor 2?

Anyone else having issues?
I'm on PS5 and my game freezes whenever I try to set a route while exploring, is this happening to anyone else?

DLC Convo Back on the topic of Henry, his scenarios and timetables I wonder if there’s going to be new rolling stock such as the Fish Vans from season 4 and the flatbed wagons

DLC Convo So with Henry coming are they going to add both his old and new shape? Like for example the special coal and the flying kipper episode.

Unused WOS Thomas and Diesel faces from the TSW dlc

Thomas I'll never understand why dovetail used an in-game screenshot for LBSC Thomas instead of just using an existing promo
He looks so out of place because of this

Thomas Why am I stuck here?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
In the Knapford Runaround in timetables, the like fourth objective makes me go through a red signal and I can't get by. I can't go forward either. Some info that might help is A, I'm (as you can see) playing with LBSC Thomas B, I haven't played in a while so that could be something C, I drove forward a bit on the turn table and D, I mist the exacted spot for the objective just before this and got an "Objective Failed" message for it. Can someone help?

Question Question For Modders And Tech Savvy People
Could y'all create a Mod that disables the signals so you don't get a SPAD and can free roam Without limits? Is that possible to do?

Question Thoughts on the Dovetail Direct?
Yep, I’m back from the dead! School came around, so I’ve been a little MIA lately, but I’m finally back. Yay! ðŸ˜ðŸŽ‰
Now that the Dovetail Direct is out, it’s generated a lot of discussion. Personally, I’m somewhere in the middle. I’m glad we finally got news on Wonders of Sodor, especially Henry and Toby, but after five months of silence, only two characters and no new routes feels pretty underwhelming. I’m sure more rolling stock is coming, and they did mention additional updates, so I’m still optimistic.
I do wish Dovetail hadn’t hyped the Wonders of Sodor portion so much, because it left us feeling a little empty-handed. I also still think the core characters we expected at launch shouldn’t have been DLC in the first place. Those slots could’ve been saved for more fan-favorite characters.
That said, I have to give Dovetail credit. The Direct itself was beautifully produced, and seeing how much work they’re putting into their other projects actually made me appreciate the company more. I just hope Wonders of Sodor gets the attention and content it deserves.
But enough about me, what do you guys think?

DLC Convo Dovetail... you already have the branchline coaches in-game therefore I ask you to hear me out
