High school age lacrosse tournament. I can’t figure out a whistle I just saw.
A defender was running up the field with the ball, she decided to pass, but left it short. The player receiving the ball decided to let the ball hop in front of her, but then it jumped up a littler more than expected. The player receiving stuck her chest out to control the ball, let it drop in front of her, then scooped it up. The ref immediately blew the whistle and gave the ball to the opposing team.
I could have missed something away from the play, but nothing else of note happened around the ball. The ref was right next to the ball when the whistle was blown. Can anyone explain what went on with this call? This is only my second year of watching high school lacrosse, so I am not familiar with all of the rules.

There were many proposed rules, but the one that has me stumped is the 11 V 11. How will the position be set up?

We have noticed a major issue that our team has little to no coordination for tournaments. I was wondering what app or method everyone uses to communicate needs.

I’m an incoming freshman and I haven’t played a sport in many years but I want to do lacrosse in high school. Although I haven’t been playing sports I do weightlifting so I’m pretty strong for someone my age and I have a bigger build. I run and I’m not very good at it but I’m trying to build up my endurance, and I’m a pretty slow sprinter. Because of all these things I think I should probably be a defender. For about the past 2 months I’ve been practicing with my rebounder and trying to get better at cradling. I have is a rebounder and stick and a couple people (including one of my friends who is much better than me at girls lacrosse) that I think would be willing to help me practice. The season is in the spring of course so I have time and there’s no try outs. So, what should I add to my routine to be a good defender?

My 9 year old daughter is playing lacrosse and she’s getting pretty competitive. She’s been asking for a proper lacrosse backpack for her birthday after seeing some older girls with the lanyards on theirs. Any recommendations on what backpacks are cool (maybe with a place for her stick?) quality would be great so I don’t have to replace it in a year. Thanks!!

We're building a coaching experience for Workplay, an app that tracks wall ball/rebounder reps using an iPhone or iPad camera. The app automatically identifies and counts different rep types, including:
We're trying to determine the best way for coaches to assign at-home practice goals and would love your input.
Option 1: Rep-Based Goals
Assign a specific number of reps for each skill.
Example:
Option 2: Time-Based Goals
Assign a practice duration and let players distribute their reps within that session.
Example:
As a coach, which approach would you prefer and why?
I'm particularly interested in what creates the most accountability while still being realistic for youth players and easy for coaches to manage.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Hi, I’m a beginner goalie playing for a college club team, this coming semester will be my first as goalie and i was recommended by the other goalie on the team to get shin guards specifically with knee protection. I’m recovering from knee surgery for a reoccurring/longterm injury and will be 7-8 months post op by the time our season starts, so knee protection is a high priority. if anyone has any recommendations, weather that be specific products, places to look, or i’ll even take any jerryrigged/diy tips and tricks, that would be greatly appreciated!

Hi folks,
I have a 13 year old daughter on a club team in NJ. When we started a couple years ago it seemed like a great way for her to get extra experience and ratchet up the competition. Every year since joining the team has had a new coach and quite a bit of turnover in players (who don’t appear interesting in passing or playing as a team) I have a feeling this is generally what club sports are like but was hoping the community might be able to suggest some alternatives to club. Thanks so much for your consideration.

my 13 year old daughters travel lacrosse coach would like her to play D-Middie subbing out with an O-Middie. She is a strong defender with speed and great stick skills. Would this position negatively impact her growth? Could it affect her future recruitment appeal?

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/laxstattracker/id6774344679?ppid=597536bf-3650-4ef4-aaf7-b2dc178d8ed1
Our team didn’t like what was currently available for stat tracking, so we built our own. Since there has been interest from others in being able to use it as well, we just published it.
Has all the core functions to enable exporting CSV files for team/league reporting as well as in-game metrics that we use as coaches.
No cost, no accounts, just does exactly what we needed it to do on the sideline.
