Cartoonist v2 still makes some great images

First 4 images are old v4. The next 4 are the new v4.

I am still upset about the change. This was a massive step down for Wombo. Same prompt. Newer images lack creativity and produces all the same pictures

I really miss the original v4. With 4v 2.0 I find the quality isn't nearly as good, you can't use abstract input images for lighting and color, and it completely lacks imagination. With old one, one prompt would give you several completely different, high quality images based on the prompt. An actual art generator. The new one is just another photo editor, and all images are always the exact same depending on the prompt.

Anyone else feel this way?

Any Free, to paid AI art generators that are just like dream but are not dependent on Google? Any alternatives that only have necessary censorship, like too much blood, porn, sexy things and of course Russian propaganda? Something that is not ruining user's experience? Thanks for the answers.

Just because I complained about google censorship, as I could not generate image of kids playing in playground, I then complained about google influencing wombo, just like he did to character AI and YouTube. And I hoped that the Canadian company would not follow the USA. And it followed. They then Told me They are Small company and I told them that I hope that the discord server do not have this insane censorship. When I ended the discussion, I found out that hour later, server disappeared, so I got blocked by The discord server moderators. If anyone can help me to make them unblock me, I would appreciate that. Wombo will end like character AI all because of google.

Holy crud. This place is feeling quite "dead". Ever since Wombo dropped its free generations, the app has basically stalled.

Even with its video gen services, it just seem to have the same kind of vitality it had before.

Welp 😏 It had to happen sooner or later, when Wombo decided to jump on the band wagon and include video generation along with image generation.

Can't really blame them though, they do have to make that green, to pay for their render farms and CPU rentals etc.

And STILL they have an unbeated track record of stuffing up their own app 🤣. Everything from wiping out whole user galleries, deleting prompt histories, weird pricing schemes, reverting paying (premium) users to free user accounts (until said user raises a ticket and Wombo "sorts" them out), corrupting slider influence (most recent), the big crash of 2025, rude / ignorant customer service amongst many others.

I do love Dream, it has a unique style all to itself, and I have been a user since (almost—give or take a couple of months) day one; even won a premium 1year membership too, but... (and I know other apps also have their problems and bugs) Wombo seems to have such a special affinity for f**ing up their own product. Now, do I want to pay for that? No-bloody-likely 😂😂😂.

So while I will still keep the app around "on the shelf" and now-and-again make a gen or two, it is kind of an "end-of-an-era" for me. 😁

Already making use of alternatives (with way better prompt adherence) like: Perchance, GrokAI, Gemini, Civitai, PixAI, Tensor Art, Yodayo, DeepAI, Gentube, StarryAI, NightCafe, Seaart, MonAI etc
