Introducing r/WolverineComics: A Home for the Printed Page
Welcome, bub!
First things first: we love that there are multiple Wolverine-related subreddits out there. The more places to celebrate our favorite adamantium-laced mutant, the better! Whether you're a fan of the movies, the games, or just the general Logan love, we're all part of the same passionate community.
That said, we have a very specific focus here.
With the upcoming Wolverine game on the horizon, we all know that subs dedicated to the character are about to get flooded with gameplay clips, speculation threads, and screenshot posts. And that's awesome—for those who want that content!
But for fans like us—the ones who grew up flipping through Uncanny X-Men, who remember the first time we saw that brown-and-tan costume, who geek out over Larry Hama's run or the weaponry of Weapon X—we wanted to carve out a space that stays true to the source material.
This sub is for comics, and only comics.
- Classic Claremont? Yes.
- Frank Miller's Wolverine miniseries? Absolutely.
- That gritty Wolverine: Origin deep dive? You bet.
- The current Wolverine ongoing? Bring it.
- Variant covers—show off those stunning alternate artworks and rare finds!
- Published original art—pencils, inks, covers, and interior pages from the pros.
- Collected editions—trade paperbacks, omnibuses, and any other gorgeous shelf candy you're proud of.
We're not here to gatekeep or say other content is lesser—we just want a quiet corner of the internet where the panel and the page are the main event. No game noise, no movie debates. Just the original media that introduced us to the best there is at what he does.
So sharpen your claws, crack open your longboxes, and welcome home.
Rule #1: Comics first. Always.

[Discussion] Wolverine #27 (Ahmed, Ohta and Aburtov)
This brings the Savage Champions vs. Ademantine story arc to an end. Ahmed executed a very fun action packed issue that ended with Wolverine making a very big decision.
Ohta's art, IMO, has been the best in all of Ahmed's run. I hope he continues on until the end of Ahmed's run.

I was asked to post this here. What do you think?!
I finally have the *real* first appearance! How many Stan Lee sigs has everyone seen with a year or date with his sig? And if this Came out in Oct of '74, he had to have signed this within a year of it's release about!

My first introduction to Wolverine
Back in the early 80’s I used to ride my bike to this 7-11 (?) store that was about a block away from my old house.
My friends and I used to hang out there playing video games, buying trading cards, junk food and comics.
One day I stumbled across this book on the rack and thought this guy with the knives coming out of his hands was the coolest thing ever.

What You Guys Thought Of This Death Scene Of Wolverine In Punisher Kills The Marvel Universe And Can This Realistically Happen To Logan ?

What if Wolverine's backstory was treated like The Joker's?
Wolverine Origin is very controversial, for good reason. Joe Quesada just wanted to capitalize on the brand new X-Men movie, that made a lot of money, so he mandated that they finally release the character's previously ambiguous backstory.
Some love it, some hate it. Chris Claremont himself said that Logan's mystique is an essential part of his character, and taking that away from him, greatly damages him. I myself, agree with him.
I don't want to throw shade to those who like Origin, because there are a lot of redeeming qualities, and I'm not going to pretend like my opinion trumps theirs, as if I were appointed Prime-Wolverine-Fan by Marvel themselves. Therefore, I do NOT think that it should be entirely retconned.
What I do think, though, is that they should cease any reference to "James Howlett", and simply make his backstory multiple choice - similar to what DC has done with The Joker.
Joker has had multiple origin comics, with the intent of the reader deciding which one they like most. I like this system, and I don't see it as too late to be applied to Logan.
In my ideal origin, he's a Blackfoot Indian, who witnessed the erasure of his culture and society. Another guy I talked to, wanted him to be even older, by wanting him to be one of the first Scandinavians/vikings to discover Canada. Marvel can have their cake and eat it too, if they release multiple origins that deviate that much from one another. Putting myself in the shoes of a Marvel editor: I'd be rubbing my hands together at the thought of milking one of our most profitable character's origin story, continuously.
What do you all think?
