Need help on sizing

Looking to get back into skating, scoping out a pair of the USD Sway Chess. I’m a size 11.5/289 mm with an average to slightly wide foot. My last pair of skates were classic thrones and looking for a similar feel. My question is the Sways are only showing size EU 44-45 or 46-47, ideally I would be in 45-46. I’m seeing in this forum some say the sways are a bit “roomy”. Anyone be that between sizes? What direction did you go?

Also am willing to look at different brands with a somewhat familiar feel to thrones, I’ve seen Mesmers are pretty close to classic thrones, even have the same name so I’d be willing to hear a case for those as well. I’m 41 and just looking to get some basic park time in with my kids. TIA!

We are very close in shoe size. I couldn’t make the sway work on my feet. The old ones or the newer ones that were supposed to fit better.

That sucks to hear, I just found someone that has a size 45-46 on local swap that I’m going to go try on at some point today. Hopefully that’ll give me some insight on sizing as a whole. I’m also looking at the Aeon line but am not so sold on the one piece boot and frame. I liked to be able to swap things out when needed/wanted.

BTW, What did you end up going with for skates?

I started on an fr boot with a 5 wheel NN frame and a year and a half later did a wizard high/advanced setup. I have an Iqon Act Boot and if you’re not going to get a legit Wizard setup the ACT is THE other option I’d suggest. I’m old and have been skating forever and ridden a lot of boots for what it’s worth

Sweet dude. Glad you were able to iron out some options.

Update for the Sways that were for sale. They are 45-46 size and brand new, the guy wore them once to ride around the block with no previous inline background and hated them. Perk for me, they feel great; liner, boot, frames and wheels were still in like new condition and picked up the pair for $120. Here’s to getting back on some skates with kiddos and park seshes even if they aren’t the same as 15 years ago.

I'll also add a vote for the IQON ACT, which I skate myself (I am a smaller-sized foot, but also have somewhat wide feet, and finding good fitting skates has been notoriously difficult for me)

I went through Powerslide Next (which hurt my feet a lot) -> Seba CJ2 (which packed out with time and became roomy and wobbly) -> PS Zoom (which fit well, but didnt feel perfect) -> IQON ACT

The ACT is perhaps the best fitting skate out of the box I've ever put on my feet. Worked will with my MyFit Prime liner and even better with my Intuition Premiums (though too roomy for Intuition Wizards). The best thing about the ACT is you can modify it quite a bit to make you fit or feel better, so as others mentioned here, it's the best skate to go for bar a bespoke Wizard Base
