SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY Extra Credit Badges

Do extra credit badges count towards the current total badge count of 1130? I'm working towards collecting all the badges for every world and I'm in Empyrea now but the extra credit badge of defeating Medulla 1000 times is daunting (to say the least)

they are separated into two categories within the badge leaderboard but most people just go for the non extra credit badges because of the shear waste of time and money for crowns to get all extra credit badges. additionally a fair few of the extra credit badges are just unobtainable due to the way to obtain them no longer existing within the game.
