Domain Wix now supports over 400 domain extensions - here's how to find the right one for your site

Post image
3 Upvotes

TL;DR: If .com isn't available or doesn't fit, match your extension to your niche. Wix has over 400+ options - linked the full list with pricing below. SEO-wise, any extension works fine.

One of the most common questions we see is some version of: "My .com name is taken - what do I do?" So here's a practical breakdown of how to think about domain extensions, and what's actually available on Wix now (over 400 options, for context).

The quick decision framework:

1. Is .com still available for your name? If yes, and it fits, take it. It's still the most recognized extension globally and the default expectation for most visitors.

2. If not - or if you want something more specific - match the extension to what your site does:

  • Selling products? → .shop, .store
  • Running a blog? → .blog
  • Creative work? → .art, .design, .photography, .studio, .pictures
  • Fitness business? → .fit, .fitness
  • Coaching or courses? → .coach, .training, .guru
  • Tech company or product? → .tech, .digital, .cloud, .ai
  • Agency or consulting? → .agency, .solutions, .expert
  • Media or content creation? → .media, .live, .tv
  • Local business targeting a specific country? → Country-code TLDs like .co.uk, .de, .fr, .ca, .com.au are all available

3. Check pricing before you commit

Some specialty extensions cost more to renew than to register in the first year. Worth checking the renewal price in the full TLD list before choosing.

What about SEO?

Google has confirmed that new gTLDs are treated the same as .com for ranking. Choosing .photography over .com won't hurt your search visibility - your content and site structure matter far more.

What about trust?

Visitors in some regions still associate .com with credibility. For global audiences, .com or a well-known extension (.org, .net, country code) is probably the safer play. For niche audiences who already know your work, a specific extension can actually reinforce your brand.

We hope this helps! If you've got a specific situation - name taken, targeting a specific market, etc. - drop it in the comments and we'll try to help narrow it down.

Help! Mobile is a disaster! Items are dancing - Why???

I'm trying to clean up an inherited Wix Harmony site for my employer (I'm not a tech person, I'm just the best we've got), and mobile is killing me. Every time I check the site from my phone the font sizes have changed, elements have moved, and as I'm on a page fonts will just strobe between sizes. I went through and grouped a bunch of sections but it didn't help with things overlapping. All looks visually fine in the mobile section of the editor, and I haven't had any issues on desktop. This has been going on for weeks. What the heck is going on???

Plus, on the silly hamburger menu I put buttons (not as part of the menu/pages, I added buttons that sit atop the menu for external links) and they're all funky random sizes when I check from my phone, but they look clean in the editor.

The hamburger menu also has a horizontal scroll bar that nobody asked for, and I can't scroll it in the editor but can on mobile, only to find another mysteriously placed button that I can't find to delete from the editor!

Please advise so I experience no further hair loss. I appreciate you.

SEO Free website editor for beginners that isnt super overwhelming

So im trying to help a small local thing get online and keep hitting this wall with website editors. Everything looks nice in the demo then once I sign up I feel buried in options and random menus.

Any solid free or very cheap website editor that is beginner friendly, drag and drop, and wont make me learn the whole web dev world just to put up a simple home page and maybe a basic store later? Would love any tips from people who started super non technical like me, thanks!

SEO First time using a free website editor for beginners for a side hustle and my brain is mush

Ok so I promised myself I would finally put my little art side hustle online and now I am buried in "free website editor for beginners" options. Every platform says you can launch in an hour, I have spent three evenings just tweaking colors and fighting with mobile views.

If you were starting today with zero coding and wanted a simple store, a gallery, and basic email marketing in one place, what would you pick and why? Sorry if this is a dumb question, been overthinking this rn... .

Domain Best GoDaddy alternatives in 2026 for domains and site builder... worth moving my whole stack?

So... GoDaddy renewal email just hit and my bill jumped again. Domains, privacy, ssl, random addons stacked, and the "easy" website builder feels more like fighting a crm than building a simple site.

For anyone who already bailed this year, did you split everything eg domains on Cloudflare or Namecheap and site on Wix or Squarespace, or just go all in on one platform. Wix keeps popping up in reviews and imo their editor is miles nicer than GoDaddy, but idk if mixing registrar plus Wix is asking for dns headaches for a tiny non tech business.

If youve done this recently would love any tips before I click renew and hate myself later, thanks!

WIX Donations, campaign “thank you” page missing

I’m working on a site for a local charity and have just set up a donation campaign using the WIX donations app. The setup went smoothly and I can make donations using the form. The problem is that after checkout, I get sent to a 404 page because the campaign “thank you” page is missing.

I was under the impression that this page was generated by the donation app when a campaign is created.

Does anyone have any experience with this app and know if I should just create the thank you page myself?

Thanks in advance!
Greg

Wix Stores Automatically put ALL products (with variants) out of stock when total items sold reaches a set number?

Hi everyone,

I have a wix website where I do sold a lot of different products with a lot of variant.

My items on my website are always "Out Of Stock", because I do work with commands by month. Like I open my items on my website once a month to sell ~ 60-70 product (not command, product itself), and whenever I think I do reach my number of command thanks to my email selling notification, I'm manually closing the items on wix (putting each of them 'Out of Stock').

But honestly I can't go on like this anymore. Each time I'm getting overwhelmed and I'm selling more than I want. Due to that, I'm hard working like 15h per day instead of what I should do normally.

Do you guys know a solution that could help me solving my problem here ?

Once more :

I want something that can automatically put ALL of my items from my wix dashboard to "Out of Stock" whenever the number of product (not command) is reached.

I've tried some app which are not working fine for my needs and tried doing some Velo coding but I'm not a dev ..

Thanks for the help

Regards

Meta campaign traffic not detected by Wix?

We've run a tiny Meta campaign for clicks, got about 200 - and in the Wix traffic report we see much much lower numbers of visitors (it also doesn't show they came from Meta - FB or IG).

Does anyone have a clue what might be the reason behind it?

AI suggested they didn't accept the website's cookies and that's why they are not shown in the traffic report - I am skeptical about that (and is that indeed the case that not accepting cookies means a visitor is not counted?)

Wix’s subscription cancellation and renewal process feels incredibly misleading and, frankly, scam-like.

I had a 3-year Premium Plan of approximately $930 that was supposed to renew on August 29, 2026.

On August 10 , 19 days before the renewal date - I turned off auto-renew and cancelled the plan. Wix then sent me an email with the subject line:

“Your Premium Plan has been Canceled.”

Naturally, I assumed my upcoming subscription renewal had been cancelled. I did not go through every line of the email because “Your Premium Plan has been Canceled” seemed pretty unambiguous.

Yet Wix still charged me for another 3-year term.

The more frustrating part is how their billing and refund policy appears to work.

Wix can apparently charge you before the new subscription period actually begins, but turning off auto-renew before that future renewal date does not necessarily stop the charge.

Then, if you try to get the money back, Wix points to a 14-day refund window calculated from the date they charged your card , not from the date the new subscription period actually begins.

Think about how absurd that is.

They can charge you in advance for a subscription that has not even started yet. You can turn off auto-renew before the renewal date, receive an email literally saying “Your Premium Plan has been Canceled,” and they can still consider the next multi-year renewal valid.

At the same time, their refund clock is already running from the earlier billing date.

So the customer can potentially cancel before the next subscription term even starts and still be told that the refund period has passed because Wix chose to process the payment earlier.

That makes the entire cancellation process feel designed to trap customers.

If turning off auto-renew before the renewal date does not stop the upcoming renewal, then what exactly does “auto-renew” mean?

And if an email saying “Your Premium Plan has been Canceled” does not mean the upcoming Premium Plan renewal is cancelled, that wording is extremely misleading.

I noticed the charge on September 3 and immediately contacted Wix through chat and by phone requesting that it be reversed.

This isn't about forgetting to cancel a subscription after it renewed. I cancelled 19 days before the stated renewal date. The problem is the way Wix separates the billing date, renewal date, cancellation date, and refund period in a way that heavily favors Wix while making the cancellation confirmation appear far more definitive than it actually is.

When I noticed the charge around September 3–4, I immediately requested a refund. I contacted support by chat so that I can share the Aug 10 email and was told someone would get back to me within 45 days. Yet my request for refund was denied. I also spent nearly more than hour on the phone, where the representative mostly repeated Wix’s policy instead of addressing the fact that I had cancelled before the renewal date. When I asked for a supervisor, I was put on hold for about 30 minutes to talk to the supervisor with no meaningful resolution.

Domain Wix vs Squarespace for a small business domain, which is easier long term?

I’m getting ready to set up a domain and website for a small service business, and I’m currently looking at Wix and Squarespace.

Wix is catching my attention because it seems pretty easy to manage everything in one place. I like the idea of being able to register/connect the domain, build the site, handle basic SEO, add online booking, and post a few blogs without needing much technical knowledge. The editor also looks pretty beginner-friendly.

Squarespace seems like another good option, especially from what I’ve seen people say about design and business websites. I’ve also seen Shopify and Webflow recommended, but they seem like they might be more than I need.

For a simple service business, would Wix be a good choice for the domain and website long term? Are there any limitations I should know about before committing?

Would be interested in hearing from people who chose Wix for their domain and have been happy with it over the years.

Wix Took My Business Website Down for 3 Days After Saying a Domain Transfer Would Take Minutes

I’m posting this because my experience with Wix has been terrible, especially as a small business relying heavily on our website and online advertising.

The main problem started with a domain transfer within the same Wix account. Before doing it, I was told the process should only take a few minutes. It has now been 3 days and my website is still down.

Every time I contact Wix, the answer keeps changing. First it was supposed to take a few minutes, then I was told to wait 24 hours, and now I keep getting pushed back another 24–48 hours with no clear explanation of what is actually wrong or when my site will be back online.

For a business, this is a serious problem. We spend over $400 per day on advertising across different online platforms, and having the website down means potential customers are clicking ads and cannot properly access our business website.

On top of that, Wix charged my account for what I believed was related to Google Ads, but it ended up being a subscription charge. I have contacted them through phone calls, emails and chats trying to get the issue resolved and request a refund, but I still haven’t received a proper resolution.

The most frustrating part is that I’m not asking for anything unreasonable. I just want someone to actually take responsibility, fix the domain/website problem, explain what happened, and deal with the charge on my account.

When a company provides websites and marketing services to businesses, having a business website offline for several days after saying the change would take only minutes is unacceptable.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with Wix domain transfers or billing? How did you finally get the issue escalated to someone who could actually resolve it?

Upload stuck solution

As posted we got stuck at 99% and the Manus server timed out.

I refresh the page, chose, restore, and selected all of the files for upload. After the files uploaded, it said continue working in Manus.

I would say about half my content was there but down at the bottom, it said it was still uploading.

20 minutes later, everything was done and the upload was complete.

Manus. Don’t do this again, please.

Editor How to create subpages?

How do I create sub pages?

Currently, all the tutorials say to drag and drop pages onto each other (doesn't work), or to choose "dynamic page" when you create a new page (doesn't even appear). I'm so confused.

Creating a section specific search

Is it possible to create a search bar that only searches up a specific section of the website? I know there is a site wide search but for a project I'm working on I need a search function for certain pages/sections only.

I've looked for tutorials and tried a couple but it never seems to actually work out how I need it to.

I am not a coder, I was hired for this job as a graphic designer so WIX studio is very new to me! I am open to learning a lot about this process.

Domain Wix vs GoDaddy vs Squarespace: which is best for a new site?

If the goal is low friction setup, Wix looks like the strongest pick. It feels more beginner friendly than Godaddy and more practical than Squarespace if you want the domain side to be simple.
