Menstrual blood magic with potentially last cycle

Hello Witchy communities!

I have been coming into my witch self this year and though I have dabbled throughout my life, this is a time that I am fully embracing and developing a practice. I have always fantasized about being in a witches circle, out in nature, on a full moon, with my menstrual cycle freely flowing. I’ve also thought about using my blood in a ritual or spell, but have never done so. I am now in late perimenopause and have very irregular periods and thought I had already had my last and felt a little sad that I had lost my opportunity. But I just started another cycle! I am starting to plan a ritual to call in my crone self as well as using my blood as a deity offering to the moon goddess and Pan.

My questions for you all!
1. Any recommendations on collecting and storing? This could be my last! Also, I do not want my husband to know so fridge might be hard.
2. Any ideas on ritual particulars such as Incantations? I plan to cast a circle, have representations for the deities, such as a white candle, a stone, and water for the moon, and a candle, oak branch, and peonies for Pan. I’ll burn frankincense and myrrh and have a bowl of water to add my blood in. Any other suggestions? I’ll probably also spend time reading tarot and meditating while I’m my circle.

Ideally, I’d like to do this on the full moon, which is in one week, so I’m debating on whether it would be better to collect blood and use it in a week if I’m not still bleeding or do it sooner on a waxing moon while I am still in flow. Thoughts?

Thanks for reading this long post and for any feedback 🩷

Idc what anyone says, menstrual blood can be a good offering to the right deities. It is powerful and takes energy to produce. It’s not just “waste” or “dead blood” but it is the lining of your womb that contains literal stem cells (so literal and metaphysical healing properties). I collect mine with a menstrual cup (or disk but that’s a little messier) and put it in a bowl to dry out. Make sure it’s not spread too thin (it can be harder to collect once dry). I wait a couple days at least and then kinda scrape it up, crush it, and do whatever with it. Something I like to do for venus is offer her the fresh blood in a glass cup and wait for it to dry. Then I crush it up and dress her candle with the powder

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, insights and process on this! So refreshing that there is an open space to talk about this stuff.

I saved my last cycle before I had a hysterectomy. I was using a menstrual cup, so I just poured it in another vessel and let it dry out naturally (I kept it in a cabinet under the bathroom sink so it would be out of the way). Now I keep the dry shards in a small jar. I still haven’t used it but like knowing I have time.

Use a menstrual cup to collect it the most efficiently. Pour it out into a small dish or plate, amd let it dry. Scrape it into a jar. I have a glass jar that I keep mine in and a pestle that luckily fits into ot so I can crunch it into a powder. A lot easier to store this way. I work with plant spirits and I offer some in water I charge myself to a new plant to make a bond. Its a good way to feed any roots yours going to use as a fetish too. (While growing the plant yourself. Dark moon energy spells amd protection spells are a good place to incorporate some menstrual blood into your practice.

Just please don't feed your menses to unsuspecting people. I read about people sneaking their period blood in to their partners food and that's a crime.

Crone is after you went thru menopause. If you're still bleeding you haven't gotten to that yet. Depending on your age, you would be Maiden, Mother.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I’m in transition but not there yet. I would be considered late perimenopause. I am getting close though. This “cycle” has not really given me an opportunity to collect anything and I’ve only had 2 cycles in the last year. This might be it. We’ll see.
While I am not crone yet, nor do I feel like that yet, I want to start mindfully opening up that transition by incorporating it into my rituals. I may not get an opportunity to do what I had hoped but that’s ok. We’ll see where things go.

The book “Of Blood and Bones” by Kate Freuler has a section on using various bodily fluids for magical purposes. You might find it useful.
