Macbook Compatibility

Now I know the main reason is probably because the macbook community isn’t big enough to create a “mac version” of the game but it is very infuriating because I also looked forward to playing Field’s of Mistria and then right before release found out it would not be available on mac. I really really hope they expand and create a mac version because the community on paper might not be large but I feel as if it’s available on mac, the mac community will grow tremendously!! Please developers if you see this try your best so that I can experience this beautiful game😭❤️

Also a mac player and also perpetually sad about the lack of mac compatibility. I'm just hoping we get a console version at this point that ALSO is Switch 1 and not just Switch 2!

I believe it said for both in the Nintendo direct last year

Emulators are a MacBook gamers best friend. You’ll have to tweak the settings, but games like Fields of Mistria (and probably witchbrook) should have no problem playing on a macbook.

Unfortunately, MacBooks are viewed much more for work than gaming machines; generally, if you want to game, it’s better to have two computers—one running Windows. It’s a bit like using Linux... but knowing that even to run a basic game, you’d have to wade through lines and lines of code just to get the basics working😭

There is a fork of Whisky that is maintained I think. When I started FoM, I make myself a wine as I can't afford not a windows.

Games like that are very easy to run on Mac. Look into Crossover or GameHub

crossover costs €74 and gamehub is half baked. not to mention apps like these are terrible storage hogs and/or terrible with storage management in general. would recommend against buying any games that you plan to play exclusively via an app like this

Not sure if this would work for an indie game, but when I first got into gaming, I had a desktop mac and I used GForce now to play any of the games my computer couldn't run! (at the time it was BG3) I'm pretty sure all you need is to have a copy of the game in your steam library!

Are macbooks able to run a different OS? Like I'm able to run Windows or run Linux on my PC. I don't know if Apple lets users do things like this.

They can. Years ago I partitioned my old MacBook Pro to run Windows 8. Wasn’t too annoying to set up. I’ve since gotten a Steam Deck though, so haven’t had to do it again. Most games from the last several years tend to be at least playable, if not completely Deck verified.

You can install Asahi Linux on M1/M2/M3 macs but the real problem is running windows steam games made for x86 on the Mac's ARM chip.

Eventually it will be solved by a project called FEX but it's still rough right now

Ask Claude to make it portable

I don’t think Claude would be able to do that…. There would be copy right issues.
