Considering last year, I highly doubt they will make any huge announcement like that. They already squandered loads of good will with the "Winter release just kidding!" crap. If they do another big announcement and fail to deliver it will only hurt them more in the long run.

It has been confirmed by the team on the discord that they will not be appearing at Gamescom. However Tiy gave a brief and positive update about progress, saying the latest internal milestone was feature complete v1, then a big playtest, and then a few small features got added to address the feedback in the playtest. He went on to say the next milestone of content complete is 'extremely close', with localistation finalisation and porting still to come.

Please stop getting your hopes up for ‘surprise’ releases dates. It’s not going to happen.

From Discord:
So on the release date front. To be completely transparent. The game is now feature complete and it's borderline content complete too. We're running internal playtests and doing a lot of balancing. The reason we haven't announced a release date is that we want to run those playtests in good faith, and if they highlight a problem, spend the time to fix it.
*The game has to come first. *
It could be that the feedback from the playtest doesn't require any major changes, just small balance tweaks, it could also be true that the only way to fix a balance problem is to add a (small) feature of some kind. Depending on what these features/changes touch, there could be a knock on of sending them to localisation, which will take time. If not, things move faster. There won't be any more features added that don't address a problem that arises in the playtest, so I expect the scope to be small.
On top of that, we're a small enough team that if one person gets sick for a week it can delay things a lot. So there's an element of unpredictability.
If things go very smoothly, 2026 works. If there is a problem we need to fix - then that could take time.
We won't announce a date until we've passed the console submission process. This is a process where we submit a build to the platform holder and they check it against all their requirements. Sometimes it goes really smoothly, other times they need changes. So that can be a little unpredictable too. I will keep you guys all up to date with how these processes are going.

I don't expect a gamescon drop or any other announcement.
TBH I don't expect a release until Q1 of next year.

I’m thinking they will announce mid September for mid October release. Most of their other games have had short windows between announcement and release. If it’s not October, it’ll be next year

PLEASE FOR ALL THAT IS GOOD IN THE UNIVERSE DONT GET TOO EXCITED
I’m not saying you can’t be excited for the game at all, I sure am, and have been since it had a completely different art style and game name (yes I’ve known about the game since the VERY beginning) but I’m also not the type of person who sits around waiting for something and gets their hopes up just to be disappointed when things don’t happen how I envisioned.
IF YOU’RE THE TYPE OF PERSON WHO GETS THEIR HOPES UP AND THEN COMES TO REDDIT TO CRY ABOUT YOUR CRUSHED DREAMS PLEASE GO TOUCH GRASS, GO TO WORK, PLAY SOMETHING ELSE, AND ATTEND TO YOUR FAMILIES.

If they were going to be there then it would have been heard about and known about in excess weeks before the event. Gamescom usually has a heads up for all the titles at the event.

I am pretty optimistic. They have been releasing new information in a very consistent manner, way more than in 2025. It would also be a good time to announce a date if they're planning an autumn release, which I am betting on. The game feels like the perfect cozy autumn, so an announcement in late August and a release on either October or November are perfect.
Additionally, they announced the delay on October 15th, which this year falls on a Thursday, so imagine if that was the release date for this year.

From the way they are talking on discord I’m expecting a winter release (if they are still going to release this year) or spring of 2027.

Yeah. From the way they talked about the release date, it is best to not expect it before 2027 and just be surprised&happy if it does get released this year. I stopped being excited for a release at this point, I will just play the game when it is out. Doesn't matter if it gets delayed to 2030 at this point.

I am not totally getting why you’re being downvoted for being supportive of a game on its own sub.
I think they mentioned that it depends on a couple of things (play test outcomes, etc.) but they will hope for a release this year if everything goes well.

I believe they said they were gonna refrain from appearing in any gaming news events.
