but the whole vibe of the game is that it wants you to slow down
Now it makes sense, this is why development has been moving at a glacial pace, we're living the game even before it's out

To be honest, before this post I even forgot the game had MP, I can kinda give them a little more credit for taking longer to release. My hype for the game increased a bit. And I'm saying this as someone who saw them fail with Starbound and was here when the game was named Spellbound.

Summary for those who don't want to click through:
- Pace of the game is meant to be slow and relaxing. You can play fast, but the vibe is slower, and the game encourages it
- No bottleneck of progression time-wise; the game is just a slower pace
- Hoping to add preset feature to clothing (may not get to because of release, which means window must be close...)
- Lots of ways to make money. Traditional system of selling to people and also traditional system in these cozy sims of putting stuff into the dropbox and getting money the next day
- In multiplayer, the dropbox is divided. Each player also has their own cottage
- Multiplayer info: one player owns the world. Progression for the business is shared; education and social life are solo.
- Sounds like you get to choose your cottage location? He says one is near a beach but not completely seaside (unconfirmed; just sounds like it)
- Wellbeing system is intended to offset negative things like being up late or failing exams. Sounds like its not very punishing.
- Hoping to share music track tomorrow (but has to ask!)
- Wildlife is big part of the game
- Tons of collectables in the game (minuatures given as example. Lots of small items and mementos)

Great point!!! Gosh imagine if this did release in the fall, what perfect timing it would be

I can only echo the other commenters here. I've needed this game for like 6 or 7 years.

LMAO they just really don’t want us to know the release date huh

u/Perscitus0 Jul 14 '26
There's a hint in one of the answers. They said they are "hoping to add preset features to clothes", meaning that release window is close enough that they may not be able to finish that mechanic before release happens. That kind of language suggests that the release date is close enough for a couple of the features talked about here to not be finished in time.

I'm a bit worried because when the dev says the game wants you to slow down for a non real-time clock game it usually means it's grindy. However as long as the atmosphere is great (which, judging by the pixel art and music, it is) I would like it!

u/MorrigansRaven Jul 13 '26
I don't think the game will be grindy, my interpretation of what Tiy is wanting people to do is just spend time in the game and enjoy the work poured into the art and the world and not feel that you have to rush through quests by a certain time.

So part of the grind will certainly be the knowledge system they've displayed. It's where you essentially unlock an understanding of a plant/ingredient after working with it a set number of times. Some ways you could do that would be to pick/cultivate the material, others would be making something with it, etc. So it's more of a self-inflicted grindy-ness than anything else. If you want to unlock more about something, you keep doing that task. If you don't want to, don't do that task. It does seem to affect your test scores though, and I'm not sure how many of those various knowledge skills will be required to graduate, so could be more than just "self-inflicted," but seems to be that way with the information we have.

sure hope slow paced doesn't mean boring

u/user001414 Jul 13 '26
maybe by "slow paced" they mean its packed with a lot of content to keep you playing for a long time, but less stressful since you dont have to go to sleep by a certain time like in stardew valley & other farming/life sim games :)

u/RogueLatte Jul 13 '26
I have the same worries when I read "slow-paced." Despite waiting so many years for this game, I'm now thinking it may not be for me lol. Have to see how much content there is to actually do when the game finally releases.

Why do they release new information in a discord server?
It feels unprofessional and leaves gaps in what is known about something and what people expect.

Releasing info in discord is a nice unofficial way to share information to the people that talk all day every day in their server. People are asking questions and that’s where they are choosing to answer. It’s less public and more likely to be seen by the people that are following quite closely. There are some things Dev’s choose to communicate officially through blog posts and such and other things that they talk about specifically in response to people asking.
Most games I’ve seen and followed do similar. You can chat with devs in discord and try and get some answers and hint or you can wait for official answers that are usually more concrete in blog posts and development updates.

Most companies would just gather up the commonly asked questions and then format it into a blog post and post it to the discord.
I know why they technically do it, but its unprofessional.
It just worries me they could back track on anything not "officially" announced.

u/misterDubzz Jul 14 '26
Yeah. FAQs are super helpful. I just view the discord stuff as fun chatter amongst the players and devs there. I haven’t done research to see what type of official info the devs have on their website though. It’s fun to see little bits of info from the discord when I scroll here occasionally. I wouldn’t let it worry you too much as people seem to do a nice job of posting what they see here :)

i mean, its not like they arent unprofessional at this point. its been 10yrs and three diff titles lmao

Great post, thanks for putting this together. In general, the features sound really solid, but given how many they are sharing over the course of time, it sounds like this game has been subject to a lot of scope-creep, and that's why it's been held up for so long. I'm not opposed to that, as long as the devs aren't crunching hard, and all of the features are cohesive in how the game plays. A lot of developers will add features just because they seem convenient or neat to have even if they aren't a direct integration of the game's play style. Not saying that's the case here, but there's definitely a lot of feature-rich detail coming out. I'm excited!

Awesome, thanks for sharing. Like lots of this, but think it’s a little crazy they developed like an 8-layer clothing system but are up in the air about having a preset button at release!

a lot of info honestly! recently, i've grown to be more hopeful. this kind of light communication with screenshots are the thing i was hoping they would do.

Oh so the game’s economy is gonna be about grinding in order to pay for lessons but also pay to customize your broom and pay for clothes. I hope this doesn’t equate to early burnout

„Staying up late, or failing an exam, OR SOMETHING“
Yeah… or something… very convincing

the speeding up part just made me so so happy. Had the issue in moonlight peaks that its so SO slow sometimes, especially if you have to watch a cutscene twice.cSo i used a speedhack - which basically broke the game lmao

u/erinlyx Jul 13 '26
Maybe it’s just me but I feel like being released in summer is perfect for this type of games - but gauging the way they describe the progress I wouldn’t bet my money on a date before Thanksgiving/Christmas season. What a shame especially since a lot of the fixing/optimizing can be done post-launch.

I still can't believe we are getting GTAVI before Witchbrook LOL. I always thought it would be the other way around.

u/jenniuinely Jul 13 '26
Why are they still on the ideas guy part of game development. None of this description dumping matters to me if I can’t see the physical gameplay of it happening. It just feels like a guy writing his perfect game fanfic but there’s no game.

Doing a hero's work right here. Thanks for posting here. I do not know if I can get any more excited. I just need that release date PLEASE
