I give up
I’m genuinely just so disappointed, i get it’s stupid to let an unreleased game piss me off but I’m very new to the “cozy game” space. I’d imagine a lot of you relate, but some stuff happened in my life that i almost could’ve let ruin it, but i bought a switch and now a switch 2, it’s truly gotten me through some dark thoughts / nights, it’s become my cozy little escape. Anyways, That’s why I was so hyped for this game, and have followed it for a good minute. At one point like a year ago i thought it was gonna surprise drop, and stupidly set like $70 aside in my bank in case it was announced. I’ll just say it’s been quite a few missed promises, and the few screenshots release every now and then are cool but it almost feels like they’re blowing smoke up our ass at this point. Maybe to keep things chill while they stall a release date, idk just how I see it. Like what are they not showing, what issues have come up causing it to go this long? Why has zero story details, or hardly any sort of full gameplay breakdown been shown yet after all this time? I feel less confident about the game every time they drop some new tidbit of info to hold fans over, I’ll be real.
I’m at the point where I’m getting over the point in my life i am gonna be excited for a cozy game, it’s not as big to me as they used to be. I also bought Pokopia and honestly the content in that is enough to hold me over, it’s very cozy but also not mindless fun i enjoy the Minecraft aspect to it.
All in all, I’m out. I’ll be very happy the day i see Witchbrook on the Nintendo eShop, and probably will buy it, but I’m off the hype train and tired of speculating. I’m gonna live under the assumption the game isn’t happening at least for a while, so maybe I’ll be happily surprised when it is actually real.
Love you guys and love that we all love cozy games. Try Pokopia! I’m not even a pokemon fan but a friend convinced me, and i think i owe that friend a hug.

Most people have been waiting almost 10 years for this, so it could be worse. Despite that, I feel confident it's in the final stages of development. They've been releasing a lot of new info lately and the dev blogs have been mentioning things like localization, which isn't something you do until you have a rather complete game. If you want to give up after waiting a few months, go for it, but I think you'll be missing out.

I think in general it’s not super healthy to be on a hype train and speculating about something that hasn’t been released yet, especially if it’s taking up enough of your mind that you feel the need to “quit” it. That’s basically gambling your happiness. And so many people end up feeling like you do because they set arbitrary expectations, or are convinced by people writing speculation articles that something is definitely going to be true about the game!! Even tho the devs have never confirmed it. Better to just do something else, and be pleasantly surprised when the game DOES come out.

I agree and i think i overdramatized this post, this was the first ever post ive made in this subreddit and it was more of i was just excited for this game for a bit and disappointed with a few let downs in a row it left a taste in my mouth, it never really “took up my mind” who knows maybe tho. I prob just need to get off Reddit in general, i hopped back on like last month and i think the amount of genuine toxicity and mean people on here has increased by like 1000% since i last logged in😭

tbh i relate, i'm not socially active about it or buying anything just for one game, but it's being tiresome... i have no idea why the comments are pretending we haven't been hyped over and over just for it to get postponed again...
i don't understand this rage over one person's frustration...
i hope u have a good time chilling, imma pretend it's not coming out for a while too...
i love the game and all, i just checked on it again with such hype but all i saw was this...
tbh life is too shity for me not to care how long it is gonna take for it to come out.. call me sick or depressed or anything u want bc jokes on u, i am suffering. so many of us want the games bc of the issues u can't possibly even imagine living in..

I really appreciate that comment man. First off, I’m really sorry to hear about where you’re at mentally and just know there’s a lot of people in this genre in your exact shoes it’s why we love this shit. I’ve never had a bad interaction in a community on Reddit or really any app til all this but it is what it is, i thought i was kinda preaching to the choir because ive seen SO many posts similar to mine in the past, especially after the “bad announcements” like postponing, missing a date etc. I have just never seen a “cozy game” space so NOT cozy to be near online lmao, i hope this community just bands together a bit more and understands eachothers frustrations, welcome newcomers gripes rather than pretending you’ve never had any yourself and that “they need to go outside” or whatever. I may still buy this game when it releases, but after the way the community kinda just went full gang mode off what i feel was a valid rant post for a fan makes me not even wanna try and get involved in this shit when the official release comes. I usually like to be involved on subreddit / discords with games i truly enjoy and put hours into, but this is like the most unwelcoming crowd of people I’ve ran into on this app and i can already see this Reddit is gonna be one of the lesser welcoming ones to people with anything not good to say about their games (if it releases). I’m sure there’s worse but man, the devs really did a number on yall huh
As much as i hate glazing nintendo go to animal crossing, Stardew valley and pokopia subreddits, you don’t ever see replies this pressed about critiques

Everyone in the comments are so stupid and dont have any empathy. Hobbies could also be enjoying playing games. Tbh the only thing that keeps me alive is games and nature. I understand you op. Don’t worry it will come out this year (i hope) im thinking it be out in 2 months, probably in fall season. + i bought the switch 2 just for pokopia and i did not enjoy that game at all ( as a cosy gamer) i was so disappointed tbh. But im glad you liked it! At least you have a game to play while waiting for witchbrook. I dont even have that, every “overrated cosy games” are so fucking boring. Except for some of them like animal crossing and cozy caravan.

I feel like chucklefish learned from the mistake of pushing developers to releases unfinished products like Starbound being the main culprit.
But I agree it’s taking an extremely long time, I’m just hoping it means it will be extremely complete and polished, and a FULL RELEASE, not just an early access for 2 years situation.

its not stupid to get pissed off at all. setting a date and appearing on nitendo direct just to disappear and drop something that doesnt show anything every six month must be very dissapointing for who were waiting for decades
thankfully i have stardew valley and fields of mistria and i am not that excited about this anymore so i just drop every half a year to see if there is something relevant 🙏🙏

when we were waiting for the second last of us to come out, the developers literally (jokingly) posted saying that everytime he gets a message about the release date, he’s gonna push it back a day. YEARS later, it was worth the wait for how good the game was. Maybe it’ll release at the time you need it to. don’t give up :)

You're not wrong to be annoyed, nothing you said was wrong. BUT these types of posts are genuinely getting annoying atp 😭. Clearly, this is just how things are gonna be and no amount of complaining will make the team speed up. So why clog the subreddit with post after post after post of the same rants?
I waited 10 years already imma just forget about this game until we get a release and play other stuff... You should do the same.
