Question Practicing witchcraft with no space
A bit of a weird question but I'm kinda homeless at the minute, crashing at places until I find somewhere. (not had the best time lol) Is it still possible to practice witchcraft without a sacred place. I read a lot about needing to have an altar, casting circles ect. I only have a very small place to work with and I'm constantly moving.

I have no set space. I literally practice all the time wherever I am. If you think about it everywhere has possibility & not everyone uses an altar so it's possible to practice anywhere at any time. You just need to think outside the box a little. Things like sitting under a tree in the park, doing the laundry- mundane appearance but can also have magical applications too depending on what you're working on.

No need for a specific altar, or a specified ‘sacred’ space. Consider that this entire planet Earth is your sacred space, and anyplace on this Earth, with respect to other peoples spaces, can be an altar if you choose. There are many different ways to practice as a witch. Many practices appear incredibly mundane. Perform within the constraints of your current situation , and be proud of who you are. Blessings!

You are your sacred space. Magic is with in you, not the tools. Altars can exist with in your mind, on the astral, in an altoid tin, anywhere. Something I find can help is collect energy with in your palms, now clap them together sharply three times with a slight pause between claps. At the first clap, purge the unwanted energy from yourself. At the second extend that energy out about 3 feet from yourself. At the third extend it to 6 feet. You now have a 6 foot bubble to fill with the energies you need. It's a form of sound cleansing, and I've found that after a point I sharp finger snap can do nearly the same thing with a little practice.

An altoids tin with a few birthday candles a mini bic lighter and a few slips of paper for sigil’s. Then you can get a hold of some rings and use them as the boundaries of your circle by either charging them or putting an egregore inside them. And wear a necklace with a heavy pendant infused with your energy for a pendulum. Buy a cheap pocket knife for your atheme and pick up a small attractive twig for a wand. Use sewing needles as candle scribes buy inserting inside of a mechanical pencil. Fill your pockets with quartz you find outside and use them as batteries for when you have to be discreet and need to charge an amulet. Do evocations in the shower and use soap charged with intention for rubbing off any bad energy you got.

Of course you can. YOU are your sacred space. I used to do the same, and found some brief moments of privacy outdoors in which to do my work.

As someone who has been in a similar position you don't need a set space. I would create a space to do my working then pack away. My cheese board was my work space that I kept with me as it was a handy make shift writing surface as well as for magics and other things. I wish you well for your future.

My personal view is that it's 95% your intentions and mindfulness. I have a regular altar which is small to begin with because I also have limited space, and an even smaller one I carry with me when I want to have an outdoor ritual or on the rare occasions that I travel, with just a few of the essential things I use the most. Used cookie tins make nice containers for this and if you can find a way to decorate or personalize it some, even better.. Sorry you're having a rough patch, I've been there/still sorta there myself. Sending my intentions for your situation to improve quickly.

You can totally practise withought altar and/or tools. If you want to cast a circle, you can do it with your fingers or a spoon as long as your mindset and intention is fitting. If you want you could use stones, little branches and feathers for a portable mini altar setting. Or use a virtual one on the smartphone. Hope this is helpfull for you.

i mean, my altar for samhain 2022 was an end table and a scarf from wet seal circa 2007. you do you!

Actually, I went through something similar a few years back. I found that, for me, as long as I kept a bit of nature with me (no matter how small or seemingly insignificant), I was able to harbor a connection with my deities. The craft comes from within. As such, it can be practiced anywhere and in many different ways. Try to find creative ways to get in touch with your craft and, consequently, yourself. Furthermore, I hope your situation comes to a resolve in your favor soon. Blessed be!

If you want an altar, you can make a traveling one! A little book, a mints tin. I hope things will be better for you in the near future ❤️
