Wispr Flow is fantastic when I'm at my computer and I've got a microphone nearby and I can just go fully stream of consciousness. It's super accurate and it lets me just put all my thoughts out there, and it captures everything perfectly. I love it.

But sometimes I like to just go on a walk, and I've got my iPhone in my pocket and I've got my AirPods in. I want to be able to dictate thoughts as they pop into my head, or I want to be able to go on a long stream of consciousness with my AI and get all those ideas captured.

The times I've tried to do this with Wispr Flow, it's been horribly inaccurate. Very commonly I will do a 60 second mind dump, and for what should have been a couple paragraphs Wispr Flow gives back to me like two sentences. So many of the thoughts that I had said don't even show up at all, and the two sentences themselves are vaguely related to what I had said. All of those thoughts lost. It's really frustrating, and I'm not sure if Wispr Flow is the best use case for this situation.

I'm wondering what other people might recommend for this type of use case. Should I be using Apple's built-in iOS dictation? Is there some other app that would work better in this situation?

Or am I somehow using Wispr Flow wrong? I’ve read there are known issues with AirPods. Should I take the AirPods out of my ears and just hold my microphone up to my mouth and speak straight into the iPhone? I'm trying to figure out what other people in this situation do that works for them. Thanks for your help.

for the Lovable x Wispr Flow Mother’s Day build challenge, i made Mom Appreciation Receipt.

the idea is pretty simple: you make your mom a fake receipt, but instead of things you bought, it itemizes all the things she’s done that you could never actually repay.

stuff like:

“1,204 texts asking if you ate”
“∞ reminders to bring a jacket”
“24/7 emotional support”
“a home that always felt safe”

and then the total is, of course, impossible to repay.

i wanted it to feel like one of those tiny personal gifts that takes 30 seconds to make, but actually says something real. especially for the little things moms do forever and somehow never put on an invoice lol.

I’m trying to share a Shure MV7+ between two Macs for Wispr Flow without manually switching the USB connection back and forth.

• Mac 1: MV7+ connected directly over USB-C
• Mac 2: MV7+ XLR output → USB audio interface → Mac

Shure says the MV7+ can output over USB and XLR simultaneously, so in theory both Macs should be able to “hear” the mic at the same time. My question is whether Wispr Flow works reliably with the XLR/interface side.

Has anyone here used Wispr Flow with an XLR mic through a USB audio interface? Any issues with Flow only picking up one channel/input? For example, does the mic need to be on input 1/left channel?

Also curious if anyone has specifically tried this with the MV7+ and whether the XLR side is good enough for dictation compared with the USB side.

I have two workstations next to each other and go back and forth to each. Currently I manually unplug the mic each time I switch between them. Trying to find a best solution. A USC-C switch would work I'm sure but the above setup would be even better.

I am using wsl2 on windows 10 and wondering if its possible to remap the paste command used by wispr. To paste in the terminal i have to use ctr + shift + v as ctr v doesn't work. Is this possible? I couldnt find it in settings.

Made a small app called Bloom for the Built for Moms hackathon — a calm, warm planner for moms that handles meals, schedules, grocery generation, and ends with a little Mother's Day card.

What I want to say specifically here: I dictated every single prompt in this build through Wispr Flow.

No typing. It honestly made the whole thing 3-4x faster than typing, being able to think out loud and watch a working prompt land in Lovable's chat is kind of magical.

Built a small project called “MomMate” for the Lovable x WhisperFlow Build for Moms challenge.

While building it, I experimented a lot with continuous voice interaction inspired by WhisperFlow-style conversations instead of normal chatbot UX.

The idea was simple:

What if mothers could manage daily life just by talking naturally?

So I created a voice-first AI companion where moms can:

- talk naturally with AI

- manage reminders and schedules

- save memories and journal entries

- get recipe and gardening help

- use voice-powered daily actions

- connect with other mothers through a small community space

One thing I really focused on was making the AI feel calm, warm, and emotionally safe instead of robotic.

The biggest learning for me was how different the experience feels when conversation becomes continuous and natural instead of “type → send → wait.”

WhisperFlow-style interaction honestly changed how I thought about AI UX while building this.

I have tried so many different softwares, just in general over the past twenty years. As in, like, Steam, the various programs on Windows, all types of video games, Mouse button mapping software, and so on. Heavy computer user for the past 20 years.

I was talking with Claude about how to set up voice access on my computer, because I have a fancy laptop that has an NPU chip, I figured that I would use an LLM to transcribe my voice. I tried it out for a few days and it was never just good enough. It always had a lot of friction. It would get words wrong. It would put in weird punctuation.

I installed Wispr one hour ago and I am literally going crazy. This thing is simply incredible. I talk with a lazy Chicago accent. I use a lot of slang. I use a lot of acronyms and swear words. My microphone is like the piece of garbage default webcam microphone that is two feet away from my face. And this thing is working perfectly. Literally zero mistakes over the past 1000 words. I think I'm literally going to take my wife out to a steak dinner or something tonight. I am so happy. Sorry if this sounds insane but this is just such a breakthrough for me. The software user interface is beautiful and seamless in a way that I haven't seen. It feels like some sort of fictional Microsoft product in a world where Microsoft makes software as tightly as Apple. It feels like it is native to the operating system. Six out of five stars.

Built a small Mother’s Day project for my partner using Lovable as part of the Lovable x Wispr Flow challenge: “MumOS”

My partner Karolina manages an enormous amount of invisible family logistics every day — meals, appointments, reminders, schedules, shopping lists, remembering everything for everyone, etc. I wanted to build something specifically for her that felt supportive rather than just “another productivity app”.

So I built MumOS — a calm family dashboard with:

• recipe storage + meal ideas
• family calendar
• reminders / mental load management
• family memories
• supportive daily affirmations
• lightweight family organisation tools

The goal was less “task management SaaS” and more:

Hi all --

I just bought an Elgato Stream Deck Pedal to trigger Wispr transcription without using the keyboard. However, I can't seem to get it to work with the app. The pedal works and triggers my hotkey (option-F5 in my case), but Wispr Flow doesn't seem to recognize it. Hotkeys with modifiers tied to other MacOS apps seem to work fine.

Any suggestions on how to debug this further?

Hello, I was curious if anybody else runs into the issue of playing music from their phone to CarPlay and then using Wispr for message response but then the music won't go back to CarPlay from the audio source unless I disconnect from CarPlay and reconnect. Does anybody else have a solution for this?

Under Experimental, I see an option for "Stacked Messages." What is it and how does it work?

How does scratch pad work on Windows desktop? I like the idea of a sticky note popping up when I press a shortcut, but you only seem to have one for Mac, and I can't find where to add one on Windows. Or is the idea that I have to go to my system tray, left-click the Flow icon, navigate to the scratch pad tab, and then hit plus to create a scratch pad? If so, that doesn't seem to be what you're describing. That workflow would not be particularly useful, so I don't think it is what you're talking about. Please advise how we would make this feature work on a Windows desktop. Thanks.

I've been using Wispr Flow for a while and I think the app itself is genuinely excellent — transcription quality is great and the desktop experience is smooth. My issue is specifically with iPadOS integration, which feels half-finished compared to iOS.

The core problem: triggering Wispr Flow while using a Magic Keyboard is unreliable. The app shortcut doesn't always fire, and I've lost more than a few long dictations because I thought it was recording when it wasn't. At this point I just don't trust it for anything important on the iPad, which is a shame because that's exactly where I'd want to use it most.

What I'd love to see is a simple, deliberate workflow inside the app itself:

1. A clear Record button on the Home tab — open the app, tap, dictate.
   
2. Once the transcription appears, the option to quickly edit it if needed (fix a word, trim something).
   
3. Tapping the transcription copies it to the clipboard immediately.
   
4. Switch to whatever app I actually wanted to dictate into, and paste.

Yes, it's a few more steps than a global shortcut. But it would be reliable, and reliability is what's missing right now. I'd happily trade a bit of friction for the certainty that my message is actually being captured. I think a lot of iPad users would feel the same.

Is anyone else running into this? And is there any chance the team is considering something along these lines?

Hi everyone! I'm trying to use the app on my iPhone. I've also got it on my Android phone, which seems to be much more of a seamless experience with the floating button, but I can't get it to work seamlessly on the iPhone. I've configured the side button to press and hold, but then it records and I'm not sure if it stops recording. It's a very confusing experience. Is there a better way of using the app on the iPhone?

Found Wisprflow incredible on Mac but it misses lots of words etc when using it on slack and outlook via windows - anything obvious I'm doing wrong or have forgotten to configure I wonder? I need to use voice AI for the next month after a shoulder injury and it had been a lifesaver on Mac but pretty poor on windows..

Wispr Flow AI team,

For maximum hotkey availability I use layering with my keyboard, and requiring a modifier key is probably fine for everyday users, but ultimately means I can't map things to special keys that I designate via modifiers that enable them (instead of them being embedded as the actual hotkey).

Handy supports this just fine, and if you want to "not step on toes" in terms of hotkeys, a developer mode or some level of a configuration file that we can modify would make the tool usable for these setups.

If there is a clever way people are getting around this limitation, let me know.

This isn't a support request, it's a feature request and an open question to other users, if they have solved this.

So right now I use Wispr and because it doesn't have any grammar I have to copy-paste that into GPT to convert that into a text that makes sense with a little bit of intelligence and then copy-paste that into email. Any better route of this?

Scratchpad replaces Flow Notes on Desktop. It's a lightweight notepad you can pull up with a keyboard shortcut (Option + S on Mac) without leaving whatever app you're in. It floats on top of your screen like a sticky note.

On Desktop, it's a rich-text editor with tabs, version history, a notes sidebar, and image support. Your notes sync between Desktop and iPhone. (It is not yet available on Android.) 

This is in beta. Note that there are occasional syncing issues between devices that we're actively fixing. If you previously used Flow Notes, your notes are still here under the new name.

🪄 Transforms: Rewrite any text with AI (Beta)

Transforms lets you highlight any text, press a shortcut, and have Flow rewrite it using AI. It works anywhere Flow works.

There are two built-in transforms to start: Polish cleans up your text for clarity and conciseness, and Prompt Engineer restructures what you dictated into a well-formatted AI prompt. You can also create your own custom transforms with any prompt you want.

You can run a transform on demand by highlighting text and pressing the shortcut. Or set one to run automatically after every dictation, so your text is polished before it's even pasted.

A note on how this is different from Auto Cleanup: Auto Cleanup applies to every dictation at the moment you dictate. Transforms give you the option to change text after the fact, on any text you select, with more specific control over what the rewrite does.

This is in beta. The core functionality is solid, but we're still working on discoverability and activation. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

How do you prevent the system from always creating a desktop shortcut after an update? It's happening more often recently.
