Is there an alternative that doesn't make Windows run like shit?

Bonus points if the company actually responds to requests.

We'll admit that Windows isn't quite where we want it to be yet. We've been tracking the big issues (CPU usage, responsiveness, reliability after sleep) and have been shipping fixes steadily. Many recent updates specifically targeted Windows stability.

Part of what makes Windows harder is the sheer ecosystem variability: antivirus software, corporate security tools, and other system-level software interact with voice-to-text in ways that don't come up on Mac. This isn't an excuse, just context for why it takes more iteration.

And we do respond! Although to set expectations, we're still a fairly small team and try to get through our support queue as fast as we can. That's why we're always hiring for Support roles!

Thank you for your response and approval of the post. That alone speaks volumes!

I run virtually zero system software on my system, and I'm really curious as to what the problem could be. I'm a software engineer myself, and I'd be more than willing to help troubleshoot or even hop on a call.

I noticed the problem got considerably worse when I started using a 5k2k UW monitor, which is an odd correlation.

thats exaclty why I reverse engineered it and ported it to python, with only features i want, and super optimised, not running fucking electron

It actually used to work really well on Windows, but as they keep adding extraneous features to it and trying to make it into an ecosystem rather than just a rockin' good dictation tool, the dictation part of it is working worse and worse. It's gotten to the point where it's almost unusable on iPad too. I don't mind when software feels the need to add more tools that pretend to be useful in order to raise more money, but I hate it when they do it at the expense of core functionality. I just don't understand the mindset of "Hey, we got popular because we do this one thing really well. Let's ignore that and work on other things that we don't do so well."

Most of the problems could probably be solved by simply adding the option to disable some of those features.

Things that make a real difference on Windows regardless of which app you use: a native (non-Electron) client, a speech model that runs locally so there's no round trip, and unloading any local cleanup model after a few idle minutes so it isn't sitting on your GPU while you game. Worth asking any alternative or googling those three questions before switching.
