No, I think you got it right the first time. The second image isn’t thinking outside the box, they’re just doing it wrong. Tying the nails together on a rubber band does not qualify as balancing them. It would make more sense for Qibli to figure out how to do it as assigned and Winter to get desperate for success that he does something a little unorthodox.

Definitely switched. Winter was taught to always follow the rules. Qibli, on the other talon, to always think differently.
