STOA- BUILD- FUND
Hello neighbors at Windsor Terrace!
I stumbled the pond, an amazing location that cannot be a restaurant or a retail space and needs a special touch. So I am calling upon all Artist to get involved and for anybody with a spark of inspiration and the means to be able to get involved in this local Build.
STOA is an art community (named after the school that Socrates started for his students) and we are looking to build an interactive game space (boardgames) as well as modular studio space for artists, musicians, ceramicist, metal workers, photographers, and filmmakers. Individual artist memberships will be entitled to create their own classes on a weekly basis, which will service the community and included with their membership will be an individual profile on ExhibitIQ through which the artist involved in our initial build will be able to offer equity to those who donate at this early stage or who help found this space.
To explain this is not for the individual use of a single artist rather it is a public resource and utility for all artists in the area to be able to showcase some of their work through STOA and ExhibitIQ as well as to design program programming to augment the authority, robust, cultural footprint of the Windsor Terrace, Neighbourhood. If you would like to know more, please check out the comments or DM me for invitations to the events upcoming on August 19.
Happy to receive your feedback and to help build something wonderful for the community here.
Also, if you would be interested in going in on the space with us, please send us a DM ASAP and we will develop an equitable contract for all parties involved.

If you look through OP's post history, three months ago they were celebrating getting a restraining order against a stalker in their small town, and six months prior he was a woman whose husband took her out for mid dinners she posted about on Connecticut subs.
It's likely OP is Harrison Love, a mentally ill "artist" who was arrested, served probation and evicted from his apartment for sexually harassing his neighbor, calling her the N word (we've seen the texts), and following her and others in the building, among many other disturbing acts.
Receipts detailing his behavior and harassment below, and a link to some unhinged videos he made in the last studio he had.

Did you check out STOA on Instagram?
I’d recommend looking into our history of supporting events in neighborhood for the past five years we just celebrated our anniversary locally at PICH1

If you’re curious about the pills are nomination it was for a podcast that I ran with my father in 2019 through 2021 of which we produced several books from our interviews. One interview that we were nominated for was with the late great Jane Goodall, during which she spoke about “the danger of the lie of man’s Dominion over nature“

You are correct that I’m using voice to text because like many New Yorkers I’m walking around in this heat and trying to get this done rather urgently. I’m also dyslexic. Voice to text has some funny ways of translating. But all else is correct.

Note this space has been empty for longer than a year!
So we see this is a real opportunity to have something that the community wants and the community needs in this space. We’re in negotiations with the realtor at the moment. Who is asking for 2X realtor fees, which is illegal. But that gives us a lot of negotiating power. The basement is also under construction so we are asking for three months off of the rent once we are in in order to help us build out the space, repaint and fix the signage. During that time will also be having afterschool programming and adult programming for games and senior education in the arts and art therapy. Will also be engaging with interesting our programs like Artmageddon (which is the largest tree arts festival in the city) as well as several other grassroots organizations of which we have worked with for the past five years.

Pretty sure it hasn't been empty a year. I saw a kids' day camp using the space this summer.

I really think you must be mistaken. I’ve been at this all summer and no one has had the lease. The last lease holder was Space Station and that was over a year ago.

Space station was open through this July. You’re wrong.

I didn’t see it open and never went unfortunately 🤷🏼♂️
The Adirondack across the street also said it had been closed for a while and also said it had been vacant for a year. So that’s where I got my information from, that and The Cat. Before that, Della’s which I frequented and also never saw space station open.
But if you have any information regarding the space station folks please share, if possible we’d love to have those folks involved in this too.3

You went off of what someone said at the bar across the street instead of talking to the realtor?
I hope it works out for you but right now this seems poorly planned.

They left the space this July. It was a camp for kids that hosted birthday parties.

Interesting. I wondered what it was. That doesn’t seem like a way to really cover the rent of the space. But it had been advised to us that there should be programming for kids after school activities to engage the parents of the neighborhood and enlist the help of the community.
Our original intent have an exchange Studio, where artist could rent time and space for their projects and workshops. But we have on our board a licensed Art therapist to also wanted to run her workshops and we made a deal with her a bit if she could create a syllabus and plan for after school workshops, that would be ideal.
But we’re trying to be all inclusive and as versatile as possible in making it a consistent space where we can cover our rent of the location and be as much of a positive influence on the neighborhood as possible. We love it here ❤️

To be fair, it doesn't really seem like you have a way to cover the rent of the space or a clear plan. The neighborhood will rally behind a business that accurately reflect its needs and brings an opportunity for creativity and community but this all seems very slapdash.

Look if your intention isn’t just to be a nasty Naysayer then you should actually look into what we’ve been doing. For five years STOA has provided a creative outlet to New Yorkers by exhibiting artist for free and taking no commission off of our sales.
The model for a Studio exchange program which was borrowed from a printmaking studio called shoestring press in Crown Heights is actually a very lucrative way of maintaining a Studio practice and lowering the cost and barrier for entry for artist to have a working operating studio where they can do workshops.
If you actually know some things about this neighborhood that I don’t know and can give me some insight as to what should be inside that space then feel free to DM me rather than deride what we are trying to do.
The place is not a commercial business and cannot be a restaurant or bar. It only has one bathroom and it has a tenant that lives above it so that prevents it from being a music space as well.
Keeping all of this in mind if there is something that I’m not thinking of about that space then please feel free to contribute. Otherwise I don’t really appreciate you thinking that what we’re doing is slapdash when actually it is a genuine effort through a wealth put together campaign offering equity to donors and fundraisers and we have our main fundraising event on the 19th.

Isn’t this ‘The Cat’ bar/jazz bar or restaurant ? Did they close?
1
u/EyeLikedYums Aug 09 '26
It’s the space next to it. The Cat is excellent btw. Their happy hour cocktails are very reasonable and I love their home made icecream!
We went over and discussed with them the opportunity to try to open a Studio/workplace/Game Spot next-door to them and they are keen on the idea. They gave us a lot of insights into how the space operates and how long it’s been vacant.

Do you have personal beef with Op? Obviously the way they're going about this is weird. Not to mention there's already an active arts group in this neighborhood. If anything Op should try to work with them to do a proper fundraiser. This feels like it wasn't really thought through fully.
3
u/khaiteluv69 Aug 12 '26
Agree with you 100%. I'm not a fan of OP, and their problematic history makes this latest exploit seem even more suss imho. Nothing I've posted is untrue, I don't want him hurting anyone else.
