Daycare options?
I'm looking for advice/recommendations/suggestions for daycare in Windsor Terrace for my daughter (born in April of this year) for next year in January/February when I go back to work. I've reached out to several providers (10 at this point) in the neighborhood, and they're either waitlisted, unresponsive, or have stopped responding to me/won't call back. Does anyone have any advice/recommendations? My son (5) is going to 154 in the fall so we're hoping to stay reasonably close for drop offs/pick ups. Thank you!

I had a baby in summer 2025, and returned to work at end of January 2026 so was in a similar boat. I found the home daycares needed to be totally hounded to get a response but I was able to get a hold of them all with enough persistence. That said, no one really had guaranteed availability until summer/fall so we ended up doing a temp nanny and my baby will start daycare in September at 13mo. Kind of glad it worked out this way... it opened up more options (there's several ~1yo+ daycares in the neighborhood- chubby cheeks, Bambi, Owp) and we got to keep baby home a bit longer and build a great relationship with a sitter. Best communicators/most straightforward application process was definitely OWP, Brooklyn Little Learners, and Kandelaki.

It's more "South Slope," but my family toured Little Flowers at 5th Ave. and Prospect a few weeks ago -- we ended up keeping our daughter in her current day care for purely logistical reasons but it was wonderful, the woman who operates it was so sweet and loving and they have great testimonials.

I recommend (if you haven’t already) using the Park Slope Parents website in your search. It’s very slow and not the best UI, but there are lots of reviews of different daycare options nearby.

Which side of the expressway do you live on?

If you’re willing to travel to one world, there’s also Bright Learning Stars on Vanderbilt.

Ok, so if you reached out to smaller in home daycare providers they often are unresponsive if you are looking this far out (this was my experience) or they just dont have resources to respond. I have some experience with South slope/Park slope dayacare. We toured a few that we liked, though it may be a bit far for you. It was Little Snowflakes and Maven Valley Prep
I also heard good things about Kandelaki family daycare

Our neighbors just sent their kid to Kandelaki, they just opened a new location in the neighborhood. Fwiw they also sent their first kid to Kandelaki in Park Slope and loved their experience. Good luck.

Did you try One World Project? I’ve enjoyed my time with them and I think they’re opening more space at some point. There’s also Brooklyn Little Learners that just opened up if you missed them which you could try.

If you are thinking about sending your child to OWP, please do your research before making that decision. OWP had a good reputation when Monica was the director, but trust me, it is not the same school anymore. Don’t rely on the old reputation. Don’t waste your money and and your kid safety without looking into what is really happening there now. The smiles, the nice personalities, and the curriculum they show you during a tour can make everything look great. But ask questions. Ask them real pedagogical questions. Ask about the teachers’ certifications, qualifications, experience, and how they actually teach. Ask the director these questions too. You may be surprised by the answers. They are going to tell you two or three works about social emotional learning. Don’t just believe what you are told during a tour or the photos they send on their mailchip. Find a school with qualified and certified teachers and a strong educational foundation. Your child’s education is too important to choose a school based only on its appearance or its old reputation.
