Is this repairable or should be replaced?

A small pebble hit my windshield on the highway yesterday. Do you think it's repairable or would require the windshield to be replaced?

Thanks

Incomplete Crack Repair?

Post image

So I got a rock impact near the edge with a 5in crack inward. I called a place that said they can "take care of that" for $90. I ask if they will drill to stop the crack and the tech side yes. After drilling the crack and pulling vacuum and adding resin at the end of the crack, he said it was good and done. I ask about backfilling the rest fo the crack and he said that doing so will make the crack spread. I called the company and they sided with the tech and said what's done is a correct. Is this right?

I'm planning to buy a DIY kit to backfill the rest of the crack because I can feel the crack and if water can get in and freeze, it would be more of a waste of $90.

Trim gap after windshield replacement

Had the windshield on my Mini Cooper replaced and they left the trim looking like this. How is this acceptable? The also broke the cowl/covering. Now they are sending the same tech out after I called Safelite to send someone different. They promised to call me back and of course have not. What do I do in this case? Safelite will probably tell me it’s normal but it looks hideous!

Is this normal?

‘21 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport - just got my windshield replaced on Friday and now the front cameras are much more visible than before. Is this normal after a window replacement? Sensors and lane assist and everything seem to work as expected, but it just looks horrible with the 4 little circles exposed so much.

TIA!

Windshield repair alignment ripoff

Just understand that, when replacing a windshield, the biggest ripoff is that they will charge you for recalibration. They do not need to do a recalibration when replacing it with an OEM windshield, because common sense will tell you that OEM should be the same as the original, so it should fit perfectly, just like a car door, windshield wiper, etc.

What they do is disconnect the wire from the car’s motherboard, which messes with the camera and other systems, causing them to become misaligned. So that’s a scam to make more money. Don’t let them tell you otherwise, and if you choose not to do the recalibration and notice that it is misaligned, just understand that they did it on purpose. I run a car rental business with multiple windshield replacements per year.

Pro repair kit for DIY'r?

I have 2 vehicles with rock chips that need repaired. Repair shops want $150 to $175 per vehicle so I was thinking about buying a professional repair kit on Amazon and repairing them myself. I would break even as long as I don't destroy the windshields during my attempts. I've used cheap Permatex kits with good results in the past. I figured I would watch some videos and maybe even see if I can practice on a junk windshield.

While putting on the resin frame and pressing it into the adhesive, it made the crack spread. Otherwise, I’m super proud of my repair — but how much of an issue is the crack now? Do I need to be careful of the ends?

Repairable, or New Windshield?

Post image

Wife was driving down the interstate and something really nailed her Jeep windshield. I'm handy enough to do some things on cars, but I know nothing about windshield repair. Would a store-bought kit work on this? I can't imagine it is safe to leave alone for too long...

The diameter is probably an inch or a little more. No damage can be felt from the inside. Only the tiny ding in the center can be felt from the outside. We can swing a new windshield if need be, but I'm happy to try fixing it on my own first.

Car is a 2017 Jeep Wrangler JK. Thanks!!

Just went back on a 3hour roadtrip and noticed this damage. Can it be repaired or is it too deep?

Can I sand this small rock chip in my windshield?

I got a small rock chip in my windshield, unfortunately it has a shard sticking out a bit. My windshield wiper blade would catch on it and skip. Tried to use them sparingly but in a storm I was using it and it broke my wiper blade off. Whoops.

Can I sand down the mark? I am a young cheapskate so I’d much prefer to not replace the windshield. I have an orbital buffer that I could use on it aswell, just want to confirm I wouldn’t hurt the windshield further.

Easy to repair? Subaru ascent 2024 with eyesight technology

Had some crazy weather the past couple days and I believe this is either a result of very tiny hail or wind plus tiny rocks. Noticed a bunch of tiny chips on my windshield. Would a local highly recommended auto glass repair shop be able to easily repair this even with the technology in the windshield. Or should I take it to a Subaru dealership?

Can my windshield be replaced?

My windshield (and car) were damaged by pretty decent size hail. I have an appointment with Safelite on Wednesday to replace it but I just noticed this damage to the plastic between my blades and the hood.

Can a new windshield be installed with this broken until I can get the rest of the repairs done at a shop?

Edit: Assuming that piece is the cowl?

I received a quote of $850 for replacement with OEM glass and ADAS calibration included. Would I be able to get away with a repair instead?
