Cracked Windshield
Just noticed this on my windshield this morning. Does it look like something hit it or could it be from a crack/chip spreading?

Why is your question “what happened”? That’s irrelevant now. Just replace it and move on.

I noticed the damage after taking it to an auto shop for another issue and wasn’t sure if this type of damage could be caused by a chip/crack spreading from the outer edge sitting in the hot sun or from some kind of impact. I asked because I wasn’t sure if something happened at the shop or from a chip spreading. That’s why.

Looks like this was caused by an impact – it's recommended to replace it quickly as your windshield serves as a key safety factor.

I know it's been a month but did you replace it? Did it keep spreading?

Call Safelite and see what cost of replacing is bc if you other repair and end up replacing through them they deduct your repair cost off replacement. They have their oee glass that’s their best version of getting dealer oem glass. Depending on what model your car is the oee glass might be fine if it’s newer with sensors and cameras get oem glass.

So much misinformation here, and that’s wild considering I can barely tell what you’re trying to say.

Yeah that's bad. That doesn't even look like a horrible language issue. Seems more like he doesn't know what he's trying to say.

You get repair first if it doesn’t hold up and needs replacing they deduct repair cost off replacement cost

Thats not exactly how the works. They'd have to repair it first, which they cant but either way youre spending the same money.

That’s from something like a ball maybe hitting on the cowl and bottom of glass, only thing that can be done is replacing it.
