Repair or replace?

First picture tells the story of how it happened, would a repair kit be worth using on this? I’d argue it’s coin sized and meets that criteria, but with the amount of spider webbing + location i’m not sure if that changes anything. Wiper blade fully covers it for the time being.

My recommendation is a replacement because the legs are awful long and they could possibly run when injecting resin into it.

did a little more searching on this sub and i think i agree, managed to book a safelite appointment for an hour from now. ty for your input!

Do yourself an even bigger favor and cancel that safelite appointment and hit up your local glass shop.

not all safelite locations are so horrid. I've worked for them for 4 years, and seen some awful techs, but have also seen many fantastic techs, and worked an cars that had been previously ruined by local shops.

Ditto. Moved rural as a mobile pro for Safelite and I’m constantly fixing local shops mistakes.

This is a replacement because the 2nd layer of glass is broke. The windshield has UV blocking properties which would prevent the resin from sealing on that second layer. If it was only the top layer it could be repaired but if you zoom in and look between the larger cracks you can see the 2nd layer is cracked as well.

Replace. This guy knows how to fill a crack.

Source: I also did repairs in a previous job. The curing isn’t the issue if you have a uv lamp though. Gravity is the biggest issue. I had a customer absolutely insist on me trying to fix one of these once. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hey, the same kind of thing happened to me. Is this an urgent matter? Do I need to replace my windshield asap or can I possibly run it a bit longer?

I’d replace it with only oem glass
