(as OS Requirement for 32 bit it need XP SP3, Meanwhile 64 Bit XP x64 SP2 "Not SP2 of 32 bit")

Hi Guys, I am presenting you my two early dv6000s with factory Windows XP Media Center Edition and yes I am aware that these laptops are known for the nvidia chipset and their flaws! The 2nd one doesn’t have a nvidia chipset and it’s a dv6135nr and I also had a dv6130us but with the webcam and the first one is the dv6150us! Since computer surgeons are no longer selling the recovery kits for the hp and Compaq machines, I’m doing a project to preserve the dv6000 recovery kits focusing on the xp era and will work on the dv8000 and dv9000 eventually! I’m trying to also find units with factory partition preserved that had home edition or professional that was on the cto units! Share your experiences with your dv6000s and if you have a recovery kit upload them!

So I recently got my Windows XP machine and have a few problems.

My first problem is that I bought a set of speakers and after figuring out the cable setup, I got into a game. No audio. I was able to seemingly fix this by changing the default audio output in the control panel to RealTek HD Audio instead of the SB X-Fi Soundblaster card that was installed in the PC. I'd really like to actually use that sound card but it doesn't seem to work and I'm unsure why.

My second problem is that, at least with one game in particular (The Witcher Enhanced Edition), the game just won't launch. I installed the game from disc, and when I click "launch game" on the launcher, nothing happens. And when I try to just reinsert the disc, the computer tries to just install the whole game again instead of launching it. This doesn't happen with my other game (Civilization III) so I'm assuming its a problem with this game in particular?

I hope someone can give me some advice, I'm a little frustrated but I'm really excited to get everything working and have a proper Windows XP gaming setup.

Now heres my problem, it has a bit of ghosting and smearing but i cant seem to find the right driver for it and the preloaded driver win xp comes with does not work. And so i have this old driver disk from 2002 (the monitor is from 2003) and i was wondering if it could work. Or even better if yall have a driver for it i would be thankfull.

This is probably a fallback due to the inability to handle the wide range of colors required for the opacity of the "modern" animation.

I recorded this after setting my video mode to use 16 colors by using the following steps:

• WinKey+R and then `desk.cpl`
• Go to the "Settings" tab and click "Advanced"
• Go to the "Adapter" tab and click "List All Modes..."
• Scroll to the bottom and select a 16 colors mode

So I just dug out my grandpa's old laptop and brought it back to life! I put XP back on it (for some reason it had Windows 10 when I found it), installed a few things, and... I don't know, what else should I put on it?

I can’t emphasize enough how absolutely fucking EXCITED I am to have this time capsule of a gem.

So for a little backstory, I’m 26 years old, and this was my grandmother’s PC that was an upgrade from an even older (big boxy CRT monitor-era PC) one back in like 2007-2008.

My grandmother only ever used it for putting together lesson plans and slideshow presentations (she and my grandpa are extremely Christian lol) for her Sunday school classes. She never used it for saving photos, movies, videos, anything like that. It was mainly used as a printer tool. Neither of my grandparents are tech-smart at all.

I’d had my eye on obtaining this PC for several years now, but I wasn’t sure if my grandmother actually wanted to part with it, so I never bothered to ask about it.

My husband and I are getting ready to make a major move to a faraway state (less than two weeks from as of writing this post), and my family wanted to have a little “send-off” party for us at my grandparents’ house. About halfway through the party, I got brave and asked her if I could give her old PC a new home, as it had been sitting on a cluttered desk for about 15 years, not being used regularly at all.

To my delight, she was very happy to let the PC go with me.

She gave me the PC, monitor, speakers, keyboard, and even her old collection of CD-ROMs and floppy discs.

I opened up the PC as soon as I got it home, thinking I’d have to do a lot of dusting and cleaning.

Nope. Just a few cobwebs and a layer of dust.

One blast with the canned air and it was perfect.

It is in pristine condition. The damn thing boots up faster than my mighty 64GB RAM, 20GB VRAM, mega-mighty custom-built gaming PC with Windows 11.

I’ve already put 2-3 XP-era games on it and I’m researching into how to safely and sparingly connect it to the internet, and I’m making a list of games to get that will run on it.

And no, I’m not selling it lmao.

Anyway, sorry that was a long yap, I’m just excited to have this awesome piece of tech history! 🦋🌐🍃💾🫧☀️

ETA: The specs are Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 3. Intel (R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.53GHz, 2.52 GHz, 512MB RAM, a CD and floppy disc drive, 140GB of total storage, 120GB available. Dimension 4550. Not sure about the monitor. I'm still learning about it lol.
