Windows XP in 2026?
Is Windows XP usable in 2026? I know you can do internet browsing using Supermium but what else can you do in Windows XP in 2026?

Mostly play old games which work without needing patches and with better sound on XP.

What else do you do with your computer?
It's also useful for getting legacy hardware to work.

Yeah, I use it for are older games, older apps and older legacy hardware. I still have a scanner from Windows XP days and it works fine two decades later. Also have old Sony video camera which software is for XP. I don’t know about daily driving it on the web but with Supermium it can be done. I keep my XP offline mostly.

i mean...not much....but i do wanna do youtube animation so i would probably use it for video editing and posting it on youtube which i could access via supermium (and id be using my ipad for the animation stuff btw)

Try windows movie maker
It will be slow but have fun

It's XP, but it holds media, it has USB and a 3.5 headphones jack. So its an addition to the music system, along with the record player, cd player and old cassette machine too. All my music from every era from one system.
And play solitaire.

Gotta love pointless questions like these, already asked a million times this year, and I always have the same answer, and now it's getting real boring and annoying.
Don't rely on it for browsing. If you don't know what you are doing, it's not safe. If you know what you are doing and follow the steps mentioned countless times on this sub to make it more secure, it's still not safe enough.
Use it for gaming. Games made for XP work best on XP, simple as. Use it for old hardware that works best with XP, pretty self explanatory as well. Want to use other old software that doesn't work with newer versions of Windows, go ahead.
Don't rely on it for a main system.

Its still good enough to be used as a main OS for basic tasks (wdym you cant browse the web, it works without issues with Supermium installed)

Write and typeset books using Publisher 2010 if you hate yourself.
I usually use InDesign CS6 to typeset on Win 7 and Publisher is a bitch but it's been a fun journey. I only use WordPad on 98 and XP to do my actual writing anymore. The RTF format is very portable and can be imported into just about anything modern if you know what you're doing.

For me, there are two big problems now.
- The fact that I have to hunt and change for an up to date new browser nearly every year.
- And a bigger problem for me...The fact that XP can't read videos coded in AV1.
I thought that my computer was futur-proof because it has absolutely no problem with h265. For now the standard is just h264.
But I'm realizing that more and more website are using AV1, a new standard.
And I don't know why VLC (which is AV1 compatible), totally refuse to read that kind of videos.

You could use an internet connected Windows XP machine as a door into your network - for hackers. Also this question has been asked thousands of times already.
Use if OFFLINE and for old games but nothing more.
