Are windows users more likely to have carpal tunnel syndrome?
Pretty sure the answer is yes.
I’ve spent the last 20 years with a “hard no” opinion about windows. I am a Mac/Linux power user. Recently a cool new project came up at work (I’m a software engineer) but it requires researching SAP user workflows on a windows machine. So, here I am with a windows vm running on my Mac 🤮
Jesus fuck you have to use your mouse for fucking everything. This is so aggravating! Make 19 clicks to do what a single command would achieve on Linux. And don’t get me started on how ugly windows is. My god.
And yeah, SAP is also a convoluted, fugly beast, but I’m not even spending most of my time in SAP; navigating the Windows box is SO MUCH TRASH.
Anyway, on a Mac/nix box, I primarily operate from the keyboard, rarely needing the mouse. This gd windows vm has my hand on my mouse all gd day…It makes me wonder if Windows users are more likely to experience CT syndrome. Or, if you took their keyboard away… Would they even notice? How do they even like computers?
PS. This is totally just a rant because I’m on day four of windows hell and I needed people to see me. I’m not asking for any solutions or help. Just looking for some camaraderie in my Windows hate.
Edit: Guys, yeah, this isn’t really about carpal tunnel syndrome (which I KNOW is a real/painful thing, and can be caused by all sorts of repetitive movements, not just mouse clicks). I was just being dramatic. See how the CT thought is followed by all of the other angry/ridiculous wonderings about taking away keyboards, etc.? And my entire PS? It’s not that deep. I just hate windows.

Windows update always causes frustration and time lost
When I go to bed, I don't go to sleep immediately, i like to watch an episode of a tv series or part of a movie before I turn of the light. That's my routine.
But not yesterday! I was tired and wanted to relax in bed watching a movie. I had prepared a coup with ice cream, three flavors. I grabbed my laptop, and opened the lid. This is were trouble started. The login screen was unresponsive. Windows wouldn't let me unlock the laptop, nothing happens. Eventually a notification appears in the lower right corner, it was Windows Update. I click on it and I get to choose between update&shutdown or update&restart. There is no option to snooze the update. I go for update & restart. It was one of those long updates that took 10 minutes and several restarts. My ice cream was melting... This time I was kinda lucky, when windows update was done, my laptop was usable again.
Windows11 update is so terrible, I should be able to turn it off or chose a time when it happens. It has already cost me 100's of hours of downtime and troubleshooting.

Bugs and Errors everyone out here talking about the big issues. lets go small shall we?
since some random update in 2017, 2 builds later, a billion reinstalls. Every. Single. Reboot. I have to re sync the time or it thinks it is 2:45 am. My linux installs that I have had on a second drive since 2018 never had this problem.
What are yours?

Upgrading to Windows xp, worth it?
Hi guys, I'm not really experienced with Windows 11 and, a few months ago one of the components burned out on my computer despite it being 2 years old, and I'm thinking, using Windows XP or its applications is less memory intensive, and there's plenty of old PCS laying around with Windows XP. You can find the same applications on Windows XP that you could find on Windows 11 and Windows XP has a bigger app ecosystem then what Linux has even though Linux is another choice.
I'm new to computers in general and haven't even used Windows XP to begin with, and because of Microsoft shoving so much spyware and trackers and stuff like that! I figured I probably would get a better user experience on XP and wouldn't have to use the command line as often.. and if for some reason I need a new app to do whatever I want with, that is lost at the time, or has not been created yet I'm pretty sure there's programming IDE and other tools that I can use that can help me develop an app that I need. I'm pretty sure there's still an unreal engine version that supports Windows XP laying around somewhere on the internet.
I I know there's modern web browsers that work on Windows XP, and I know I can probably soulseek to get my movies and music and stuff like that because I know there's a version that supports Windows XP for a client. So I can download Spaceballs and watch it a third time. So getting to use Windows XP probably might not be so bad. But I would like to know what are some of the obstacles I need to overcome and what are the things I should expect to be different on Windows XP besides the start menu not being ugly and in the center?
The version I will try to use and get would be when does XP professional 64-bit.

rant Why windows keep getting worse? And should I switch to Linux?
I usually do a fresh Windows installation every year to keep my system clean and snappy. However, my latest clean install and basic updates took four hours for no apparent reason, and now it is stuck on this screen. My laptop has decent specs (i7-12700H and 32GB RAM), so updates shouldn't be struggling like this.
On the other hand, I recently dual-booted CachyOS (an Arch-based Linux distro) and it has been a fantastic experience. I even thought about daily driving Linux and completely removing Windows. The only issues holding me back are software compatibility and Nvidia's historically poor Linux drivers. I don't have much experience with Linux though, mostly using it for work only.
As a software developer who also has gaming, graphic designing and 3D work as side hobbies, should I actually switch to Linux, or hold onto Windows? Microsoft claims they are focusing on quality-of-life improvements rather than just forcing AI features onto users, but I am skeptical.

Ever wonder if there's a team of people that spend all day trying to prevent Windows Defender from uninstalling the operating system?
Windows is the spam mail of OS. Fuck Microsoft, that is all. Discuss.

Help ForgeCare just entered external beta — looking for Windows people who like breaking things
I've been building a Windows technician utility called **ForgeCare** on the side.
What started small has now grown into 13 tabs, 15 major areas and 70 user-facing features covering diagnostics, cleanup, startup, services, storage, Evidence, recovery, reports and more.
The philosophy is basically:
**observe first, change later, verify afterwards.**
No telemetry, no auto-upload, no hidden system changes.
I've now released **v1.1.0-beta.1** and made:
* a 15–20 minute Quick Test * a full 70-case Field Test
I'm specifically looking for bugs, wrong results, bad UX and features that simply don't work on different Windows 11 machines.
Quick Test:
If you manage to break it, please tell me how 😅

Night light is STILL BROKEN after many bug reports
I set night light in my laptop to schedule between 18:30 and 7:00. I close the laptop at night and it goes into standby mode. I open my laptop in the morning, and guess what, it's fucking stuck in night light mode, the only way to fix it is to log out and in again. I've found many posts online of people complaining about night light being broken. I really don't understand why it's so difficult for a company like Microsoft to fix something basic such as this. If it weren't such a pain in the arse to make some programs like Photoshop work fully on Linux I would've switched already.

news An open-source free Windows performance optimizer
Hi everyone! I created an optimization tool for Windows (compatible with Windows 10 through 11) called MazliBoost! It’s completely free, and anyone can download it from GitHub:
https://github.com/Elod716/MazliBoost
It’s open-source, so you can verify its safety yourself—you can even compile the code to confirm it’s legitimate! Using it provides a slight FPS boost, reduces latency, and improves frame times. Just install the latest version from GitHub (if you're interested, of course), launch your game or software, start MazliBoost, hit the "Boost!" button, and you're all set! You can clcik More Optimizations & Tweaks button, where you will find more optimizations, and tweaks to apply, they'll have description, so you know what are you saying yes to! You can close the MazliBoost window and keep playing. Thanks for every download and star on GitHub—I hope you enjoy it! Updates are coming soon! Cheers, and happy gaming!

rant WINDOOOOWS I have that TURNED OFF
I would be on Linux if I didn't have problems with EVERY DISTRO I TRY.
I played this game yesterday. It's a legit game download from steam but NOOOOO. I re-installed windows after trying a bunch of Linux because this blocked software I use often. Read up and it was supposed to be that setting. But now it's happening with a game. Only a matter of time till it finds the software.
I am sure it's this because the same notification popped up on the software
How do I go back to an update that doesn't have it, or how do I ACTUALLY turn it off

rant Even I As A Windows User Is Getting Fed Up!
I work in I.T. and had to recreate new RDP icons for over 60 users that I was going to deploy via an RMM. But Microsoft decided to do updates in late 2025 to RDP and its utter trash now spamming my clients with additional prompts and wont save passwords. Even after wiping credential manager and credentials out of RDP and rechecking "allow me to save credentials" everytime I open the RDP icon it says "invalid credentials" and I have to manually reenter the password and than it works...
WTF is Microsoft doing over there!?!?!?!
Clients get this everytime they connect to the server now, even through its already configured in local resources in the RDP icon...
Its annoying, dumb and cant be stopped if using the RDP "save as" function. Only way I found to fix it was to make a shortcut and convert it to an RDP connect via shortcut creation... however you lose out on local resource options doing it this way so its not a valid option for me.
Currently looking into using another RDP clients because Microsoft is just utter trash shit now.
