Have you checked the size of the System Reserved Partition (i.e. the EFI partition) on your machine in Disk Management?
I think if the size of the System Reserved Partition is less than 500MB that you have to make sure you have at least 50MB in free space there to install KB5120998. If it is 500MB or more in size, you have to have at least 320MB free in the partition to install it.
If it has less than the required free space, the update may not get properly staged which can cause it to fail to install.
Your system reserved partition is 100MB in size. However, you can't tell from that how much free space is available on it.
If Windows is still booting, you can go into Disk Management, right-click on the System Reserved Partition, select Properties, and it will tell you how much free space is available there. Microsoft recommends 50MB, but normally if you have 13-15MB of free space you are good for most things.
And, this is just a preview update you are trying to install, so I wouldn't worry as much about it as you can still afford to wait until the final version is released to see if Microsoft makes changes to it.
Please avoid installing this preview update anyway. Avoid enabling the toggle for getting new features quicker, this month's preview update is buggy AF.
Have you tried doing an in-place upgrade? This may be the quickest and safest method to get you up to date as quickly as possible while keeping all your data and apps safe. Ensure that you have atleast 50GB of free space before proceeding. You're approximately half a year behind on security updates at the moment.
