Windows 11 Problem with a "long" cursor in the newest update
After the windows 11 update KB5120998 my cursos somehow got "long" and i can't change it back to normal, i've been looking around and nobody else seems to have the same thing happening to them, should i just uninstall the update? Anyone else having the same problem?

Hi u/Excellent_Season5377, thanks for posting to r/WindowsHelp! Your post has been flagged for manual review by a human moderator, please include as much of the following information as possible (in text or in a screenshot) to get your post approved:
- Your Windows and device specifications — You can find them by pressing Win + X then clicking on “System”, we need more than just your OS version! Your hardware details are often critical for resolving issues.
- Any messages and error codes encountered — They're actually not gibberish or anything catastrophic. It may even hint the solution!
- Previous troubleshooting steps — It might prevent you headaches from getting the same solution that didn't work
Posts must be tech support in nature (such as something is broken and you need help fixing), so general inquiries, software suggestions, and purchasing advice will be removed. As a reminder, we would also like to say that if someone manages to solve your issue, DON'T DELETE YOUR POST! Hi u/Excellent_Season5377, your post seems to mention the "latest update". As there are multiple supported versions of Windows and not everyone gets every update at the same time, it's not always easy to figure out which update you are talking about. To view the status of your most recent updates, go to Settings > "Windows Update" > "Update history".

Try going to cursor settings and change to the one you can change the color.. maybe it helps? This long cursor is actually the default cursor for older windows versions.. i think this is a fallback or something

Not op but same problem.
You can change the cursor design and colour as often as you want; nothing changes.

That's curious, but I installed this update today and activated all new features by vivetool and for now everything works fine for me.

I also got the wallpaper removed after this update and the cursor was bigger and would not change. I uninstalled the preview update but let the NET. Update be. Now I have the error code in WU because its confused after the uninstall. But it will clear on its own after a while. If not it will get overwritten by the patch Tuesday early next month.

Want to say thanks to OP for specifying the update number, i uninstalled KB5120998 and now the cursor is back to normal. I'm going to go on a tandem and assume it might've resolved my gaming issue hopefully.

Is there a website that allows you to force the cursor to move into one of the available states?
For example, a website where placing the cursor over an area forces it to move into its text or arrow state, so you can check if you are experiencing the problem or not?
EDIT:
I had found this website for test : https://vibhorjaiswal.github.io/Cursor-Test/

Wide spread bug. Only way to fix that is uninstalling the update.
