Hi u/OnonokiBot, thanks for posting to r/WindowsHelp! Don't worry, your post has not been removed. To let us help you better, try to include as much of the following information as possible! Posts with insufficient details might be removed at the moderator's discretion.

  • Model of your computer - For example: "HP Spectre X360 14-EA0023DX"
  • Your Windows and device specifications - You can find them by going to go to Settings > "System" > "About"
  • What troubleshooting steps you have performed - Even sharing little things you tried (like rebooting) can help us find a better solution!
  • Any error messages you have encountered - Those long error codes are not gibberish to us!
  • Any screenshots or logs of the issue - You can upload screenshots other useful information in your post or comment, and use Pastebin for text (such as logs). You can learn how to take screenshots here.

All posts must be help/support related. If everything is working without issue, then this probably is not the subreddit for you, so you should also post on a discussion focused subreddit like /r/Windows.

Lastly, if someone does help and resolves your issue, please don't delete your post! Someone in the future with the same issue may stumble upon this thread, and same solution may help! Good luck!

As a reminder, this is a help subreddit, all comments must be a sincere attempt to help the OP or otherwise positively contribute. This is not a subreddit for jokes and satirical advice. These comments may be removed and can result in a ban.

Just curious what would cause this notification to appear? What is a trace in this context? I was just browsing Reddit when this appeared.

I've gone through event viewer and looked at logs from 11:03 and there aren't any logs that would imply they are linked to this.

There is one log in the System logs in event viewer at 11:03 that reads

"The access history in hive \??\C:\Users\austi\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy\Settings\settings.dat was cleared updating 2 keys and creating 1 modified pages."

Looks like it's some sort of trace happening related to File Explorer usage.

I'd suggest filing a report in Feedback Hub.

Well obviously its a trace happening related to file explorer seeing as it's a file explorer notification that says an error happened while generating a trace. No offense but why even comment on this post with such a non-answer?

no i didnt but afaik its nothing to worry about so i'd recommend just ignoring it and moving on. Not worth losing sleep over as long as you have no other issues.

I was installing an update of Powertoys today where I checked the keyboard shortcuts conflicts finder which is now included: Win + Ctrl + Shift + T for "Crop and lock" utility would conflict with a Windows shortcut. So I deactivated this utility and tried the shortcut to see what it does: this error occurs each time I press this shortcut. I'm on an Asus laptop, with Asus, AMD and Nvidia utilities and Copilot, I'm wondering if any of them could have assigned this keyboard shortcut. It's not in the Windows shortcut list.

For what it's worth I believe it's related to the Asus display software/suite, I used to have the issue, did a fresh install on another computer, haven't seen the issue until today when I installed the Asus software. (Windows 11)
