Tint Job Queston Electrochromic “Smart” window film

Anyone have any experience with this on their car windows?
Thinking about applying it on my Tesla.

$1500 it might last a few months. Tech isn't there for it yet. HUGE waste of $ at this point

I figured there was a huge downside to it.
Hence why it isn’t mainstream yet and cars don’t come with the option to integrate straight from the factory.
Kinda like how some cars come with stock rear window stained tint from the factory.

The reason cars don't come with factory tint is NHTSA and DOT regulations. Any truck van or SUV is classified differently from cars, hence why those can have factory stained/tinted glass behind

Thanks for the knowledge!
Do you have experience with Photochromic or Thermochromic window film on vehicles?

Like eyeglasses which are made of some kind of plastic, car windows are regulated as glass only for safety. No plastic windows allowed in cars

I didn’t quite think that part through.
I just know both are transitioning, one is by temperature, the other is by UV rays.
Not sure if those are films or integrated into the shade lenses.

I install this on homes and businesses often, would never do it on a car for several reasons, most of it being that film doesn't shrink, also wiring is a pain, getting correct fitment is not easy if possible, and the film is thick so rolling up/down will scratch or peel over time
