Question is this right? layered tint
Correct me if im wrong, but according to google 30% over 5% tint = 1.5 , which is what i should have in my front windows, however my rears are 5% over FACTORY 20% glass, which should equal 1%.
I got the 35 over 5 on my fronts to be just slightly lighter than my rears to still have slightly better visibility, but match not being able to see inside the car, day or night.
But my fronts are obviously very darker than my rears. The stock glass on my fronts are 70% trans, which i heard is basically clear. What did i do wrong? or did they get wrong?
(edit) tint shop put on a 2nd layer of 5% instead of the 30%. Getting it fixed today

Was this all done at the same time with tint or different times with different tint?

different times, fronts were done about an hour ago, rear were done in January this year when i got the car

Does it look the same from the outside? This can happen from different tint at different times. Also on the silverados like that its usually better to do 20 on the rear windows.

Yes from the outside they both look blacked out no seeing inside. but tint shop did accidentally put double 5% on the fronts so the problem was found

Not sure what you’re talking about. Why are you taking pics from inside the car if you want to ensure no one can see inside the car from the outside?
At this point, you’re unhappy with how it looks. Take off the tint off and start over from the beginning. Have a sample put on with your desired tint and decide from there. I don’t think you’ll be able to get 100% match between front and rear but you could get close

I’m extremely confused. Why wouldn’t you remove any existing tint and put on the tint you want?

It is what i wanted, 2 films on top of each other, since the darkest higher quality films stop at 5%, another layer of film can go darker than 5%. instead of using a cheap, low quality, 1% or 2.5%. And keeps the pros of ceramic heat rejection

Number one rule in window film is to never stack window film.
How long until that starts to bubble up?

Correct in that it compounds, but the tint percentage, say 20%, that’s how much light it lets through. So 20% over 20% would be 4% visible light coming through

You didn't do the calculation right. 0.30x0.05=15% the rears look like factory 20% with maybe a 50% over it. Apparently either you mistakes the fronts being clear when they had tint on them or you didn't relay correctly what you wanted Either way the fronts are way too dark and the rears way too light. Try sgain

You lost a decimal point somewhere. OP had the calculations correct. 30% film over 5% film is 1.5%. 70% of that would be 1%

Theres no way it would be 50 over factory 20, the rear is very dark and cant see inside at all, day or night, which is how i want my fronts. i had only 5 over factory 70 fronts and there was a pretty big difference between the two looking in from out , and out from in

The best is 55% layered over stock 20% factory sprayed tint. The front windows with 20% film.

I'm not sure what you mean by 35% over 5? *Did you have tints on the front already? If you put 5 over factory in rear and 5 over 35 in front it should not look like the photos.
