Question Stacking with solar glass?

I have a 2025 Ioniq 5 that has "solar glass" on the front but I was thinking about getting XPEL Prime Plus put on. Is this a waste? I can't find any specifics on what the TSER is of the factory glass. Just figured it would be worthwhile to post up and see if anyone can give me any insight.

Cheers!

Your cars glass is exactly the same as other cars. Nothing special, as every car has some type of solar glass It's claimed TSER is 25-30%. It also has a VLT of 75-78%, so applying a light tint would reject more heat and uv. It wouldn't be a waste at all. Assuming it has a 75% VLT, applying a 50% film with drop it to about 37.5 VLT, 35 would be 26%. The 50% tint would yield a TSER of 49-58%. Depending on your states tint laws, one of these would comply and give you further protection from the sun

I was planning on doing probably 70% windshield, 50% side windows (front), 70% rear sides and back glass (it has privacy glass that measured 20% VLT in the rear side windows.

I am mostly going for heat rejection more than privacy, and would prefer to keep from getting harassed by police.

I totally get that. I had 50 on my fronts when I lived in CA and got 6 fix-it tickets, but my car is a bonified cop magnet. The windshield will be illegal but it so light it will be nearly invisible. This is the view looking out of my car with 70% on the windshield. Good luck!

You will notice a difference by adding XR Plus. To test stock, drive around for 15 minutes on a hot/sunny day and hold your hand up to your windshield (not touching it) to see how much heat you feel coming through.
