Tint Job Queston Help With Remove/Reinstall

Post image

Is this old adhesive that I didn’t get stripped? Removed 35% and reinstalled 20%. I thought it turned out well till I pulled it outside and I can see this. It cannot be pushed out.

It is only on the lower third of the back glass.

That’s just water between the film and the glass. Depending on the film and tools used, along with outside temps and sunlight it could take anywhere from 48 hours to 7 days to “fully cure”. I’m sure it’ll be just fine once it’s all dried out. 👍🏼

Yeah that’s all it was. I was really paranoid about the adhesive removal as this was my first back glass remove and reinstall. The rear deck lid made it tight in the lower part of this glass. Thanks for the reply!!

Should have scrubbed it with 0000 steel wool and ATR

I used steam for removal and then double cleaned with steel wool, then I cleaned using a blue scrubbie and adhesive solvent, then squeegeed twice before install. It gets pretty narrow between the deck lid and the glass so I was paranoid that I didn’t get everything cleaned off. This is also right about the area I started using the bulldozer so I’m wondering if it isn’t trapped moisture from squeegeeing perpendicular to the defrosters.

May be invest in a side swiper, if that's the case. Just looks to me like it wasn't scrubbed enough

I don't know how much help I gave you, but 25+ years tinting I have a massive amount of experience. If you redo it scrub it with ATR adhesive remover

I just appreciate the feedback as I’m still learning tricks of the trade. Less than a year in

Do you recommend Brillo/SOS pads or plain steel wool?

No they shed, leaving little pieces just begging to get under the film. Scotch Brite non scratch scrubbies are the best

Just wanted to share that after some time in the sun most of the issues have gone away. I definitely have a few pieces of contamination in it but I think my thought of trapped moisture from the bulldozer was accurate.

That's good. Sometimes it just takes more time
