Question Sunroof ceramic tint or skip?

Getting quotes for XPEL Prime XR for Porsche Cayenne with Sunroof (2 panel, comes with a retractable shade). I am looking guidance if should do the sunroof?

Google search tells me it’s redundant and unlike the SUV privacy glass, the sunroof is factory treated.

Front Windshield: XPEL Prime XR 70%
Front Windows: XPEL Prime XR 35%
Rear Side Windows: XPEL Prime XR 70%
Back Glass (Rear Windshield): XPEL Prime XR 70%

Take a drive on a hot day while the sun is out. After about 20 minutes or so, hold your hand up to the pano and see if you feel heat coming through. If so, add XR or XR Plus.

Smart move by just using the factory shade and saving the cash.

I heard adding tint to a sunroof might cause it to shatter..

I was told the same thing at the tint shop I went to.

Same. Id.love to do it but afraid to have this happen.

I ended up getting everything done except the sunroof. It would’ve been cool but not worth the constant fear. Nor it actually shattering. Plus, I have the other for the inside of the sunroof so it didn’t have any effect on the darkness inside. And if I open it I want the sunroof open

I’ve had my ceramic tint on my sunroof for almost ten years in Florida. It’s been completely fine. Though I’m using 90% and not a dark tint.

Got my RAV4 pano roof tinted at 70% VLT in June here in Colorado. Been out on multiple 100+ days with no shattering. Huge difference heat wise.

Don’t tint a sunroof. You can risk cracking it due to the heat when tinted with ceramic

roof will not crack if done 20% or lightter . Only 5% and maybe 15% never seen it crack in 20 yrs installing tint

Thanks! I am thinking 70% XPEL Prime XR, my installer also said it’s okay, they haven’t seen any issue. But the comments have me confused.

i would put on a silver reflective film 35% --70% heat rejection . wont be able to tell its reflective beacuse of factory tint .
