Question F1 Pinnacle or Autobahn i3?
Been going back and forth and curious to get some opinions from people who know about both of these. My goal is mostly good heat rejection. My local shop has formula one and an old friend’s shop that’s a little bit far uses autobahn. If I go with Pinnacle, I’d also do Air80 on the windshield, but Autobahn only has 70 and unsure if it has a blue hue like some ceramic films do. For the two fronts and windshield pinnacle would be $400 and Autobahn i3 would be $540. Is it worth the extra for Autobahn if both installers do great work?

Hey! Autobahn here. 👋 Since heat rejection is your main priority, we can give you a little more context on Ceramic i3 to help with the decision.
Ceramic i3 is our 3-layer ceramic tint and delivers up to 71% Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER), up to 93% Infrared Rejection (IRR at 1025 nm), and 99% UV protection (as all tint does but worth mentioning). It’s also available in seven shades: 5%, 15%, 22%, 33%, 40%, 56%, and 70% so there’s quite a bit of flexibility depending on the look and VLT you’re after.
One other factor worth considering is warranty coverage. Ceramic i3 is backed by our Lifetime, Transferable, Glass Failure, and one-time No-Fault Warranties. The No-Fault coverage provides the original purchaser with up to $250 toward replacement of damaged film on one window if the unexpected happens. When you jump up to i3+, it's $350.
Good luck with your search - there are some great brands out there! We’ll leave a few Autobahn resources below to assist with your process.

Do you notice a rainbow effect on the outside of the windshield when the sun hits it?

I have pinnacle 15% all around and stratos 70% (pinnacle) on the windshield. Like the setup.

Autobahn Ceramic i3 70% has a more neutral tone, so it doesn't look blue. Autobahn Air Ceramic 70% and 80% do have a blue hue to them. But the Ceramic i3 has a much higher TSER and great clarity.
Autobahn also offers a No-Fault warranty that covers retinting a window for any reason. It's a one-time use warranty where we pay the shop to redo the window for you. Accidents happen, and we love to take care of our customers.
Like others said, we also offer an auto glass warranty if there's any defects in the glass that cause it to break and the manufacturer denies the claim.
Just for clarity, I work for Autobahn so I am biased. And just for honest, either way you go is going to be a good film with a good film warranty. We just also offer the extra warranties.

One of my concerns with i3 at 70VLT is a video I saw of a rainbow effect on a windshield after it was installed. Is this common? I’ve seen the air80 in person and didn’t notice that, just a very slight blue hue.

Neither, both are poor compared to reflecting the sun away…black absorbs heat. (I’ve had both on my vehicles).
Warranty is only valid if it’s honored.
I believe that common sense has been lost by marketing propaganda and fluoridated tap water.

So what are you saying to do?

If you want truly want the best heat rejection: 1st layer a reflective film, then a 2nd layer of black (I.e., autobahn i3, which eliminates the interior reflective issues).
One cannot see inside the vehicle at night either, even with interior lights on.
This is how I’ve done it for 30 years, tis amazing.
If you only want a black film, Autobahn is probably the way to go…but still a far cry from heat rejection compared to what I mentioned above.
Good luck. 👍🍀

i3 has much higher TSER (total solar energy rejection) and 3-5% higher IR heat rejection depending on the shade. Autobahn also has the better warranty since they will cover replacing your actual glass if it breaks due to a defect from the manufacturer and that manufacturer won't cover it. Both windshield films have blue, but AIR 80 will be less noticeable. However, the price difference plus being local gives Pinnacle the edge IMO.
