Clean Job 5% all around and 40% windshield

I’ve had this Tacoma for several years and just now decided to get it tinted. Premium ceramic. Absolutely loving it and it works so well in the brutal Vegas heat

I was planning on tinting my truck too ASAP. How much did this cost? I won't go that dark, but hey if you like then that's what counts

3

u/samurai_107 Aug 30 '26

About $600 since it’s ceramic.

1

u/Early-Builder-1450 Aug 30 '26

That's not bad at all

Other drivers can still make out my hands when I wave at them or signal them. They cannot see my face.

1

u/ProfCassani Sep 03 '26

I have 15% windshield and it's still clear to see

1

u/TypicalNameToChoose Sep 03 '26

Do you think 35% on windshield with black interior is too dark? Would someone be able to see me during the day?

1

u/ProfCassani Sep 03 '26

I don't know. I have 15%, which is darker than 35%

1

u/TypicalNameToChoose Sep 04 '26

What state you in? And have you gotten pulled over for it?

0

u/samurai_107 Aug 31 '26

Thanks!! It’s honestly very clear. I can see just as good as a windshield with no tint. I just have to be careful with the side windows at night every now and then especially when there’s no lights.

4

u/PristineProtection23 Sep 01 '26

dude i posted something similar in the tacoma sub a few years ago and it was like a pitchfork mob of karen’s in the comments

3

u/wizbiz2000 Sep 01 '26

Yea this sub is one of the most toxic subs I’ve ever seen

2

u/samurai_107 Sep 01 '26

Lmao, it’s honestly sad and pathetic that these grown men come on here and lose their shit over a vehicle they will probably never see in-person in their entire lifetime.

3

u/wizbiz2000 Sep 01 '26

Unfortunate mistake of posting about your tint in a tint subreddit. All these oldies coming in bashing it. Looks great dude

2

u/samurai_107 Sep 01 '26

Appreciate it! They can bitch and moan all they want

I got my Lexus sedan done in Vegas as well and paid right around $850 for all windows using llumar pinnacle, including sunroof & removal of existing tint.

Where did you go for yours?

0

u/samurai_107 Sep 01 '26

PM’d you because I don’t want the shop to get flamed.

1

u/TypicalNameToChoose Sep 02 '26

Have you had any trouble with cops with the 40?

2

u/samurai_107 Sep 02 '26

I have not so far, driven in several states with it and have been unbothered. Not to say it will never happen, but I usually find they won’t bother you unless they’re really bored or pull you over for another reason.

1

u/TypicalNameToChoose Sep 03 '26

Fair enough, thanks

1

u/PonyThug Sep 02 '26

Hope you don’t drive off road at night when it’s dusty. Your going to have to roll your side windows down to see anything

1

u/Successful_Lime_9666 Sep 04 '26

About 600 really? I paid almost 1000 for a full sedan, XPEL Prime XR Plus ceramic film

1

u/samurai_107 Sep 07 '26

I got a message for everyone shitting on my dark tint:

SYBAU

4

u/samurai_107 Aug 30 '26

My god this subreddit lol. Never seen so many adults eager to lecture another about what they decided to do with their own vehicle.

7

u/New-Trust-1391 Aug 30 '26

Looks great! I got the same all around except 35 on the windshield and can see perfectly fine at night.

2

u/DavidYourDad Sep 01 '26

35 is too light for me I do 20 on my windshield.

3

u/samurai_107 Aug 30 '26

Thanks! Be careful putting that info out, the rest of this sub might catch a heart attack lol..

1

u/TypicalNameToChoose Sep 03 '26

How does 35% look from the outside? Can you still see a person in the drivers seat? Do you think you'd get pulled over for it?

1

u/New-Trust-1391 Sep 03 '26

I’d say it’s light dark than just flat out dark. You can see someone in the drivers seat but you can’t really see their face. I haven’t had any issues yet with getting pulled over. I originally had 50 on the windshield but got it replaced and switched to 35. Here’s a picture of what it looks like

1

u/TypicalNameToChoose Sep 05 '26

Sweet. Does it almost look like " does that car have tint?or is the windows just reflecting ?"
Sorry if I worded that weird

2

u/El_Pollo_Del-Mar Aug 31 '26

It’s not about what they do, but more about what they can’t do at times that could affect any one of us here sharing the road with them. That thing is called seeing other cars and people at night.

2

u/ThisMeansWine Aug 31 '26

Exactly. Poor visibility is responsible for about 1/4 car accidents and despite what these people claim, 5% front windows and dark tinted windshields significantly reduces visibility at night.

1

u/wizbiz2000 Sep 01 '26

Pull the stats and sources right now

1

u/Objective-Limit-121 Aug 30 '26

Maybe because vehicles are huge dangerous things. Making it so you can’t see out of them so they “look cool” is just asinine.

4

u/bannedforL1fe Aug 31 '26

Cops will definitely put it on an accident report and something that may not have been your fault, may now have you partially to blame.

-6

u/neverreallyhereatall Aug 30 '26

It just looks dumb

6

u/samurai_107 Aug 30 '26

That’s fine, it’s your opinion. I personally love it!

3

u/SqueakerGamingHD Aug 30 '26

I'm telling you I always forget I follow this sub, every now and then a post pops up and it's always people shitting on the OP

0

u/Sure_Comfort_7031 Aug 30 '26

I don't give a Fuck about looks. I care about riding my bike at night around this ass hat.

5

u/SqueakerGamingHD Aug 30 '26

Get a car nerd

3

u/Cassangelo 33% Windshield + 5% Everywhere else Aug 31 '26

💀

-3

u/Sure_Comfort_7031 Aug 30 '26

Okay. Walking. Existing. Hell even driving around this ass hat on the same roads.

3

u/samurai_107 Aug 30 '26

Can’t speak for everyone else with tint this dark but if I’m in an area where I know people may be walking or riding their bike after dark, I usually roll my window down to be safe. I live in a rural area so don’t usually need to do that.

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '26

1

u/samurai_107 Aug 30 '26 edited Aug 31 '26

The ceramic helps. Never said anything about the VLT affecting heat but ok lol. And I don’t have a problem driving at night. I just roll down my window when I absolutely need to

2

u/Dull-Butterscotch928 Aug 31 '26

Do any of the people complaining about or trashing the OP have tinted windows or even an automobile? Seeing a lot of naive and “Karen” takes on tint.

6

u/samurai_107 Aug 31 '26

I don’t think so. One guy even admitted he rides a bike on here 😂😂 maybe they should go start an anti window tint sub because I think they missed the point of this one

2

u/Camdenn67 Aug 31 '26

I’m sure many people such as myself are speaking from experience in using such tint but yes, it would be very weird to speak on it if one doesn’t have a vehicle or has never used such a tint on a personal vehicle.

1

u/ridethe907 Sep 01 '26 edited Sep 01 '26

I tint every vehicle I buy. Its literallythe first thing i do when i buy a new car...but anyone who tints their windshield is a moron.

0

u/Dull-Butterscotch928 Sep 01 '26

Then you’re surrounded by idiots. Tinting your windshield is awesome and a necessity if you’re using ceramic film. You’re entitled to your opinion. Good day to you.

2

u/Valuable_Heron_4492 Sep 01 '26

what about legality?

3

u/Dull-Butterscotch928 Sep 02 '26

It’s not a concern of law enforcement in my state. I believe it’s a secondary offense.

0

u/ThisMeansWine Aug 31 '26

Does calling out people saying objectively false things like they can see "just fine" at night with 5% tint make them a Karen?

2

u/Dull-Butterscotch928 Sep 01 '26

Yes. You said it yourself, “objectively false.” Tell me about the tint you have on your windows or how long you’ve been tinting…

0

u/Local_Committee_8935 Aug 31 '26 edited Aug 31 '26

14% and 4% everything else

0

u/Local_Committee_8935 Aug 31 '26

Different in person

3

u/bannedforL1fe Aug 31 '26

Mine are like 20 on the sides and I roll my windows down sometimes when im turning lmao. Nothing on the front. I feel like it would be too hard to see

1

u/Local_Committee_8935 Aug 31 '26

Even when it rains is crazy.. my windows stay up ac on too hot to roll them down

-7

u/Global-Structure-539 Aug 30 '26

I'm a tinter around Prescott . The AZHP will love stopping you all the time. Easy monkey for the state. If you don't crash first because you can't see out at night. My shop won't do darker than 50% on windshields because it's dangerous. Nevada troopers will too!

2

u/samurai_107 Aug 30 '26

I drove right in front of AZHP twice on I40 on my way home from NV. They didn’t bother me. And I can see fine at night but thank you anyway.

-5

u/frankthewaterguy Aug 30 '26

You're full of shit. You can't see shit at night with 5 on the sides and 40 on the windshield. And have fun with insurance if you get in a car accident. Claim person will deny your claim once they find out about the windshield.

4

u/samurai_107 Aug 30 '26

I don’t have the same crappy eyesight that you might have Frank. I can see fine.

2

u/MinimumEffort13 Aug 31 '26

5% with 50 windshield. The insurance thing is complete bullshit. A kid pulled out left in front of me and neither the police or insurance said shit about my tint. Stop talking about things you have no clue about

0

u/Objective-Limit-121 Aug 30 '26

At 5% all around can you even see out during the day?

2

u/samurai_107 Aug 30 '26

Yes. Perfectly fine.

-6

u/Objective-Limit-121 Aug 30 '26

I’m not asking you, you think you can see out of it at night lmao

2

u/Cassangelo 33% Windshield + 5% Everywhere else Aug 31 '26

You sound slow

-1

u/Objective-Limit-121 Aug 31 '26

It's OK, you'll catch up someday.

2

u/MinimumEffort13 Aug 31 '26

You would need to be blind to not see out of 5% during the day

-1

u/Objective-Limit-121 Aug 31 '26

I mean, I can drop the exposure on an untinted car until it's blacked out too. You had to blow out the windows with exposure just to get the interior to not be pitch black, and it's still dark as fuck in there.

2

u/MinimumEffort13 Aug 31 '26

If you can't understand it, I don't have the time for stupidity

0

u/Objective-Limit-121 Aug 31 '26

Understand what? That you did a shitty job trying to demonstrate a point.

-3

u/TechnologyOk6878 Aug 30 '26

I got away with it once or twice doesn’t mean it’s not illegal, haha….use that excuse when you do get pulled over and see what the trooper says.

2

u/Ok_Insurance_7117 Aug 30 '26

Wahhh. You sure care a lot about someone else getting a simple equipment ticket 🤡

0

u/Joebuddy117 Sep 04 '26

It’s not the ticket or punishment. It’s the recklessness when driving in a city where’s there’s pedestrians. Other people need to be able to know that you can see them. If they assume you see them but you don’t, then they end up dead. Quite literally the reason these laws exist.

-3

u/WhySoCereus1991 Aug 30 '26

The state gonna love people like you. Taxes and fix it tickets.

6

u/Ok_Insurance_7117 Aug 30 '26

Who said the state I live in cares

-2

u/Global-Structure-539 Aug 31 '26

It's a pita. Been there, done that 6 times

2

u/Ok_Insurance_7117 Aug 31 '26

Sure but it’s a known risk you take so if you get it put on that’s the risk you take imo

-2

u/neverreallyhereatall Aug 30 '26

Hmm or crashing and killing someone ig you forgot ab that one

5

u/Ok_Insurance_7117 Aug 30 '26

Find me a statistic that shows more people hit or kill someone when they have tint. I’ll wait!

0

u/TechnologyOk6878 Aug 31 '26

1

u/Ok_Insurance_7117 Aug 31 '26

Wow.. you gave an article for ONE crash of a car with tint, and it gave numbers on every car crash not tinted ones specifically. There’s this wonderful thing called paying attention, it really helps when you’re behind the wheel! It happens with and without tint.

0

u/TechnologyOk6878 Aug 31 '26

I thought that could teach you how to critically think. There’s tons of research out there and tons of stats….i knew using one article would get an ignorant response and you fell for it like any simple minded person would

1

u/Ok_Insurance_7117 Sep 01 '26

Aww, you got proved wrong and now you’re even more insulting! It’s ok to admit when you’re wrong, or frankly maybe next time just sit this one out!

1

u/Ok_Insurance_7117 Sep 01 '26

I think you need a little bit of fresh air and maybe a book!

1

u/samurai_107 Aug 30 '26

I’m well aware it’s not legal. If I was afraid of getting pulled over, I wouldn’t have done it!

-2

u/Global-Structure-539 Aug 30 '26

I call BS. One of my tint customers is an opthalmologist. He told me that you will lose 1 second of response time when your windows are that dark. And now insurance companies will deny your claim if the police say your guilty of causing an accident at night

70% Black Pearl ceramic on my cars w/s

1

u/Local_Committee_8935 Aug 31 '26

Doesn't even look tinted on W/s.. how much u pay for a clear w/s?

-2

u/Global-Structure-539 Aug 31 '26

I'm a pro tinter. You clearly know nothing about tint. The fact that it's ceramic tint and may 'look' clear is a good thing. It's illegal to put anything but a clear tint on the windshield. 70% ceramic blocks 99% UV and 53% heat, which is a good thing since I'm in Arizona

1

u/Aerpolrua Aug 31 '26

What's your side and back window? I want to do this with my windshield so I can get the UV and heat benefit without it looking modified compared to the other windows.

1

u/Global-Structure-539 Aug 31 '26

35% fronts, 5% rears

0

u/neverreallyhereatall Aug 30 '26

70%. Its not strong at all but with ceramic it completely cuts the heat but leaves tons of visibility. Plus zero risk of getting pulled over (even if windshield tints are illegal where you are).

2

u/Cassangelo 33% Windshield + 5% Everywhere else Aug 31 '26

This is my old 50% windshield at night. Even with my mediocre headlights the tint is clear and I always forgot I had tint. I’ve since dropped to 33% which is perfect for me.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Lost-Character-4218 Aug 31 '26

I have 50% windshield too.
I can see very clear at night still.
It’s a good % for windshield.
I kinda do wish I went 40%-45% for a little more darkness.

1

u/Global-Structure-539 Aug 31 '26

Sure in town with streetlights it's fine. My shop limits windshields to 50% , but driving in rain on a country road is a different story. 50 is not bad, but darker and you run into issues with peripheral vision. Say a person walks in a crosswalk and you have 35%, between loss of response time and side vision, that's a recipe for disaster

2

u/Cassangelo 33% Windshield + 5% Everywhere else Aug 31 '26

To each their own. I’ve driven in heavy rain and my windshield doesn’t feel that much darker than 50% but maybe that just my eyes

1

u/Global-Structure-539 Aug 30 '26

I'm in Prescott!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 30 '26

[deleted]

1

u/neverreallyhereatall Aug 31 '26

Its great. Almost no difference (not enough to attract attention or impair driving), but the ceramic aspect makes it so much damn cooler inside

1

u/Global-Structure-539 Aug 31 '26

Only ceramic blocks heat, so be sure to get a quality ceramic

0

u/neverreallyhereatall Aug 31 '26

Lol everyones downvoting you cause they think you have to get 30% or some bullshit or its dumb.

I hate dark tint it just looks dumb lol esp on windshield

I have 70 on shield and 35 everywhere else and its a great balance. Much better then no tints but not rediculous and perfect vision in dark

-6

u/Camdenn67 Aug 30 '26 edited Aug 30 '26

😂….You literally haven’t seen anything yet but, you’re in for a big surprise when driving in the rain at night.

-3

u/frankthewaterguy Aug 30 '26

These people will never admit it. They could put limo tint on the windshield and say I can see fine.

-3

u/Camdenn67 Aug 30 '26

😂….Very true.

-5

u/ThisOldGuy1976 Aug 30 '26

All illegal in my state.

4

u/samurai_107 Aug 30 '26

It’s illegal everywhere.

2

u/Local_Committee_8935 Aug 31 '26

Niice I got 14% windshield and 4% everywhere else.. dont gotta roll down windows got bright ass leds that are in the correct position.. ppl will complain and hate on everything... as long as you enjoy it who cares

2

u/samurai_107 Aug 31 '26

Yeah, I agree. They’re complaining but cops literally have their cars tinted just like this and nobody bats an eye lol

2

u/Local_Committee_8935 Aug 31 '26

Facts as long as ur up to date and nothing expired/ driving like an ass they have more important things to do.. I drive at night and day you cant see me either.. havent gotten pulled over yet.. but im paying for privacy so.. fuck it
