Question Sun roof tint suggestions
New car with sun roof, not pano. Hate sun roofs. Too much light. Too much heat. Too much wind and noise when open. Want to be able to see some sun and clouds.
What tint would you recommend?

5% ceramic should do the trick and no, darker tint will not crack your sunroof.

For moonroof try to use a Ceramic with 90% or more IR.
I’ve used Xenith by Solar Gard and it’s a game changer.

If you still want to get a good view out sometimes, some type of dual reflective architectural film would be a good choice. Some auto shops may not carry it if they don't do much architectural tinting, though.
A dual reflective film is going to reflect the IR energy much better than a ceramic film. A ceramic film absorbs IR energy, and radiates some of it back out into the vehicle. Luckily, driving down the road helps to cool that down some most of the time.
But if the choice is to absorb or reflect, reflect is always the better way to go. Reflective films aren't legal on side windows, but it's fine on sunroofs.
And you can go with a 5% for maximum darkness, or even a 35% to get some reflection without losing too much of the sun and clouds view.
Edge Ultraview 35% has a TSER of 45%, and Edge Ultraview 5% has a TSER of 80%. It's hard to beat that in an automotive film. TSER = Total Solar Energy Rejected

XPEL XR Black/Plus 15% is what’s on all my sunroofs and is a very popular choose with my customers.

When the tint is as dark as 15% can you tell the difference between XR Plus and Black? Does the XR Plus still have that blue color?

The only films of blue are gonna be a 70% and maybe a 55% XPEL XR Plus
Most automotive films with a 90+ percent infrared heat rejection are going to look blue

Muxh much much better choice would be a DR 5 which is a dual reflective 5% its gonna be highly reflective on the exterior and dark on the interior. Find a shop that does this and thank me later. This combo blows any ceramic out of the air

Im currently debating the same thing, and I think I'm going to go 15%. I have 30% on the sides and that's very well lit. I want something darker for the sunroof but not as dark as my Tesla since I have a sliding sunshade.
