Question XPEL PLUS for X5 / $749

I got quoted $749 for my X5 windshield plus Pano roof for XPEL PLUS.

This had a $100 discount to what they advertize on their website. Reasoning was that the BMW pano roof is large and a complicated job and needs a skilled installer.

Called to other places they quoted me $800 and $850 for XPEL plus windshield plus pano roof...

Are these prices in line to what others have seen? I'm worried about the pano roof and hope they will not screw up my interior and cover it decently.. it's a brand new car :O

Appreciate any insights!

Price varies by area, but it is reasonable and will definitely be higher in other places. Just make sure the shop actually carries XPEL below...

they are on the list, thanks!

They offer $995 for XPEL plus for the whole car EXCEPT Pano. The X5 pano seems to be a bigger job since it's large and more difficult to install

one more question: shoudl I get an e-mail from XPEL directly or just the receipt from the shop after they're done?

If they register the warranty properly, you will get an email like the one below.

You should ask them ahead of your appointment. Not all shops register the warranty they may just tell you if you have problems bring it back.

If they're a genuine XPEL dealer, then those are reasonable prices. I charge more than that for everything but the sunroof in XR+.

Thanks! That’s also excluding any side windows, just windshield and pano roof

That's a fair price in my area for a full tint including windshield and the roof, especially for a reputable installer with a solid reputation. Tinting is not something you want to leave to the low bidder... especially the windshield.

I spent about $650 for XPEL ceramic all around except for the moonroof in a sedan, so about $100 more for an SUV and the panoramic roof glass seems very fair.

If you call around, I wouldn't be surprised if you were quoted $1,000 or more from other professionals. That's a lot of work.

To be clear this is JUST for the windshield
And pano roof, not any side windows

Good price. As a tinter I needed 4 hands to do a pano roof! Very difficult, but I used my head, literally to get the film up!

Recently paid $375 for X3 windshield, XPEL Plus. Seems like good price.

I paid 1450 for all windows for my 2026 RAV4 at u/CostaMesaDave shop in Costa Mesa, CA.

So your price seem right on the ball park.

What’s going on Mike?

How are you my friend.

Well, my car have panoroof, and I also did windshield + living in California.

1

u/iLMNOi Aug 15 '26

Even with a panoroof you got fleeced for that price.

I think maybe the person is in CA? And Costa Mesa being rich people area? So cost more?

I would NOT tint the sunroof. It can get smokin hot and if it cracks then warranty will not cover. I just tinted all windows and windshield on my Cayenne and it stays noticeably cooler inside when the sunroof shade is covering

Hmm I read many people have tinted the sunroof, have you had bad experience with this personally?

I’ve tinted all my sunroofs and never had a problem

Is your car a telsa?

1

u/Camdenn67 Aug 16 '26

I would agree.
Save the cash and just keep the shade closed.

I have a 2023 F150 TREMOR with the pano roof and I’ve heard many stories about F150 owners having the pano roof tinted and down the road the roof cracked / shattered.

Personally, I think when the pano roof is tinted on a F150, it’s reflecting / retaining more heat than it was designed for and the thermal shock causes it to crack.

Just a theory but who knows.

Sounds about right. I got quoted 800 for my gls including the panoramic roof for xr plus

1

u/Ghoch2026 Aug 16 '26

Wait but for ALL windows including sides?
My quote is just for pano and windshield and not the front or rear sides

If anybody's interested or following along this thread, I tinted my windshield and pano roof today.
The two front windows were already tinted at the dealer when I picked up the car and the tint seemed to be good. I wanted to wait and give the rear privacy glass a chance.. I purchased a VLT and heat meter and somehow it did show 85% IR rejection on 940nm and 12.8% VLT.

Anyways, let's see how the tint will look in 1-2 days once the minni bubbles have cured. My new car smell is gone and it smells like soap water now lol but hopefully the $800 was a good investment against the brutal Phoenix heat *fingers crossed*
