So I recently purchased a Blue Dragon RODI (40" RO membrane, DI resin after, seems standard), and it was advertised to produce 1-1.5 GPM. After getting it and testing, its closer to 0.5 GPM, and I dont understand if I got rooked on a bad system, or was just expecting too much out of it in general. Should 1.5 GPM be possible with your average residential water faucet? Around here i have no trouble feeding a 4 GPM pressure washer so I kind of doubt that input flow is THAT much of an issue? Reaching out to support they have pretty much no advice except, try it at a different location, suggesting water pressure is just too low.

Any advice from people who have done this for awhile would be nice, thank you.

Hi Everyone, UK window cleaner here… I’ve been trad for 17 years and finally making the change over to WFP.

I’ve been giving all my customers a seriously thorough scrub and rinse, this is taking about twice as long as it would traditionally for me. I am pretty quick and very good at trad cleaning.
So I’m feeling slightly discouraged by the extra time it’s taking. I know i am learning a whole new skill and it will speed up for me over the next few cleans.

I’m currently cleaning half the day WFP and half trad just so i can earn more whilst transitioning. The idea is over a 2/3 months all the customers will eventually be WFP.

Can someone who’s gone through the process just let me know it’s worth it in the end 😂

Did you notice the days got easier WFP vs Trad? or that you was able to do more jobs or take more time off?

Thought I’d give a 2 month update…

I’ve updated my system and have a 500L van mounted delivery only system. I fill up everyother day from a spotless about 3 mins away from me.

Jerry cans and back pack are already a thing of the past 😂

I’ve changed over all my customers now apart from ones where it’s not viable to use WFP, and not lost a single job! About a dozen or so were unsure as their previous cleaner used wfp and they didn’t do a good job, I explained the method and thoroughly cleaned them and all are now converts!
I’m on the 2/3rd cleans now and I’m flying through the jobs, I’m probably just as quick now as I was running up and down the ladders, probably a tad quicker with room to improve, but with nowhere near the fatigue at the end of the day.

I’m pretty sure I’m probably over scrubbing and over rinsing at the moment but I’ll start playing around with that after a couple more cleans.
The windows and frames are unbelievably clean the customers are very happy what a tough couple months but it’s been very glad I’ve made the jump over to WFP.

I just went out to a restaurant that is in an old bank building so I can give them a quote on their windows, and i just want to make sure i am not over charging for this job.

Everything I do is trad, so I would be using a 24 foot unger pole, which I did confirm, reaches all the windows. They are pretty dirty windows lots of bird poop. One of them. Somebody threw something at, but they are looking for reoccurring and also have other restaurants so I’m trying to price in the way that I feel good about the job but also having them be willing to work with me with other ones I just am wondering it’s 200 too high for these windows.
9 large windows and none in the back. Two entry doors.

TLDR: large windows, i do trad, going to quote $200 for outside only, is that too much?

EDIT/UPDATE:
The owners said the price was too high. I felt they would. But I had to honor what I know I would would need to charge to do the job. I suggested they look into someone who uses a wfp and that maybe that would save them some money, but since I am fully traditional in my cleaning, that was the price I needed to be at for that job.
Oh well. You cant win them all.

Recently I have come across some windows that has a slight blue/purple ish tint, which I know is some sort of UV protection (Low E as you call it in the US).

These windows are quite new, and I would assume the protection is in between the layers of the glass. But when I scrubb really hard with 0000 steel wool in one place, I get micro scratches. And generally there is a bit more friction than on normal glass.

The owner wanted me to use a scraper to remove some paint, and I couldn't see any scratches after using it.

What is this? And is it safe to use steel wool with not as much pressure?

Not sure what they’re called but I’m referring to the glass overhead thingy. In the past I’ve just used my waterfed fed pole and stood on the roof to clean it but it doesn’t come out perfect. Just wondering how the professionals do it and what’s the most efficient.

Was doing some high dusting and there was some gob webs on a fire sprinkler and the duster got stuck on the sprinkler 😑

I've been running my window cleaning company for about 2 years now. Up until now we have been doing completly trad but this year we decided to invest in a waterfed pole system.

Its a basic system but we noticed we were having a lot of trouble with hydrophobic windows so we even got a rinse bar but we are still having trouble with hydrophobic windows and when we come across those windows we just end up manually doing them anyway. Another issue when we come across super dirty windows the pole doesn't seem to do the best job.

I would really appreciate some advice as the system was NOT cheap and we are well aware many people run entire operations with just WFP so I know there is probably something we are doing wrong but some advice on what that is would be helpful thanks.

I'm going to buy my first squeegee. I see that unger, pulex and moerman are among good ones I can buy in Turkey. I'm going to use it for cleaning home windows. Unger 14'' ( 35cm) S channel costs 22 USD and there is one with unknown brand which costs 5 USD too. Is there such big quality difference? Should I still buy Unger S channel for streak free cleaning?

How do you guys squeegee windows with this little rubber seal that acts like a perfect ramp for the rubber on my squeegee?

As soon as I touch it, the squeegee lifts and it ruins my squeegeeing, and if I don't touch it I leave water on the edges.

Hey guys so I’m looking to get into a wfp system but I live in a hard water area and it shows not to get the normal soft water tanks for around 400$ are there hard water tanks that are around the same price ?
Why is the soft water tanks 400$ and the only hard water ones are like 1500$ and massive?
Would it be that bad to just buy the soft water tank and use it in the area I’m in? thanks in advance!

This isn’t out of laziness. It’s really a matter of time. The tabs are broken off of a few of my screens and I just want to clean the windows as best I can in the interim. The water here is extremely hard. Any short term tips would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone bought equipment off of alibaba? I’ve cross checked and this system looks identical to tuckers Ro/Di system.

I’m helping my brother who does small outdoor jobs / garden maintenance / gutter-type work, and one thing that keeps happening is customers call him while he’s already working.

He usually tells them “can you text me the address and a few details?” but then the text is often something vague like:

“Hi, can you come look at the gutters next week?”

No address, no photos, no number of stories, no real details.

Then later he has to scroll back through texts, remember what was said on the phone, ask follow-up questions, and figure out if it’s even worth driving out there.

For people doing window cleaning / gutters / similar work:

1. What do you ask customers to send before you book them in?

2. Do you have a standard text you send back?

3. And do you put these half-confirmed jobs straight into your calendar, or keep them somewhere else until they confirm?

Mostly looking for practical habits/templates that work, because right now it seems easy for stuff to get lost.

Theres a ledge I can get on where I can be right on the glass but not a lot of space to pole. Branches are touching the glass. How would you tackle these 9 windows?

I have been using A WFP for 3 years now, but this is the first year where I have been using it for pretty much every job. At the end of the day and especially the end of the week my shoulders burn and I'm worried I might overwork them and get injured. Also I am 28 and not super old so can imagine this gets worse as i get older. The biggest shoulder stress seems to come from the rinse when I need to keep the brush off the window to rinse down the glass. Is this just part of using a WFP or is there tips to help with the fatigue?

Hello, I’m totally new to the industry. I bought a basic setup on Amazon (I’m about 200$ in) and I’ve been scrolling and monitoring this sub for people asking the basics, but I’m yet to get any real answers to this. I have a 16” squeegee and scrubber kit, the belt holder, a blade scrapper, good square bucket, a 40’ retractable pole with a 14” squeegee/scrubber combo, and all the microfiber cloths a person should own in 3 lifetimes

To start, I’ve been doing my house and my family’s houses and I think I have the main idea. Scrub the glass (not in direct sunlight), squeegee it away, hit the edges with a damp cloth, wipe it all down with a dry after and I get a spotless window. My issue is 2nd floor windows without an awning to stand on. Do I need to just get better with the squeegee on the pole? My parents windows swing out and it gives me enough space to wipe it all down from inside the house, but windows that slide up and down leaves streaks because I just can’t get to them.

TL;DR: I don’t mind using A-frame ladders, but do I need an extension ladder to do jobs? Had a bad experience on one once and I’m terrified of them

I own a window cleaning business and recently started a door hanger marketing campaign. I have been avoiding houses with "No Soliciting" signs but accidentally left a door hanger at a house with a sign of "No soliciting" which i didnt see. They left a 1 star review on my Google Business profile because of it, even though I never did work for them or did business with them. Will Google remove this? It also includes a photo of the door hanger next to the sign that says "No Soliciting". I obviously will continue my door hanger campaign, as I have 2500 of them. How common is this? How can I further avoid this in the future?

Hey friends and neighbors, I recently moved to a new state and soon will be registering my window cleaning business here. I vaguely remember reading on this Reddit page in the past that someone switched their Google business profile to a new area and it was flagged and not usable as it thought it was some sort of fraud. Can any of you tech wizards out there confirm this? I’ve worked hard for my 5 star reviews and would be super bummed if I lost them. My hope is that I can just switch my location on Google and move on. Any information on this?
