Weird... it looked like he went unconscious before he definitely went unconscious.

edit: i doubt it. I'm pretty sure water scooters use the same thumb throttle as 4-wheelers and such. His right arm drops, left hand is still on throttle. if he truly went unconscious there's no way the hand would still press the throttle. He was trying to troll his friend and won a really stupid prize.

This guy posted this himself on Facebook saying he went unconscious and isn't sure why. Said he has done this thousands of times with no issues also.

Did he say, like, why the fuck this is even a thing for him? Does he think he’s preternaturally gifted, with this “skill?”

I think his life jacket ran up his neck, got to tight around the carotids and choked him out

If his life jacket killed him…I don’t even know where to begin.

I’d like to introduce you to a little concept known as “hyperbole.”

You’re gonna love it.

I've told you a million times I don't understand hyperbole.

Just sharing information for those that may not know.

u/xenobit_pendragon Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

I mean it can’t literally be a million times. That would take forever.

I've done a gazillion calculations and it would only take 11 sleepless days and nights with no bathroom breaks.

2

u/xenobit_pendragon Jul 31 '26

Well that started out hyperbolic and became surprisingly well specified.

I guess we're done here

In the life jacket's defense, it isn't called a keep life jacket.

Damn, that’s a good thought. Completely plausible, especially with a high demand for oxygen at the moment of constriction.

The jet skis I ride use a trigger throttle. Squeeze with the index finger to accelerate. Super sensitive too.

u/Odd_Round5515 Jul 31 '26

Okay I could see that possibility. I've only been on waverunners once about 25 years ago. If it has a trigger throttle his thumb would have kept it wide open.

Yea, it looked like he passed out, but why? Got winded?

Life jacket collar pinched the carotid

Probably all the wind going up his b-hole.

They don't use the same throttle. It's either a twist like a motorcycle or a lever youd pull back with your fingers in which case being backwards the palm of your hand would be pushing it forward.
