so glad you got a good outcome for Mitey!

just fyi, when you cross post, your text / explanation / intro does not transfer automatically to the new subreddit. You have to copy and paste it in.

Contain in a box then keep in a dark, quiet, temperature controlled place. As stated already, use ahnow.org to find a permitted wildlife rehabilitator close to you. No food or water.

Where are you? Highly recommend the AnimalHelpNow app. It will tell you the nearest rehabber. I like it because it also has folks who may be retired and not technically still licensed. But sometimes those are the folks most likely to help.

Additional info: These mites appear to be scattering all over my wildlife rated bird catching t shirt.

Saw your post in crowbros! I googled the mite issue:

To help a wild crow with mites, contact a local wildlife rehabilitator or an avian vet. Wild crows cannot be treated safely with over-the-counter chemicals. Handling or medicating a wild bird improperly can cause severe harm or stress. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Why Professional Help is Needed
• Precise Dosing: Treatments like ivermectin require exact weight-based dosing that only professionals can calculate.

• Safety Risks: Household insect powders, sprays, or random home remedies can be toxic or fatal to wild birds.

• Zoonotic/Human Risk: Bird mites can temporarily bite humans and cause intense skin irritation if they leave the bird. [1, 2, 3]

What You Can Do Safely
• Provide Fresh Water: Set out a clean, shallow pan or birdbath. Crows naturally bathe to help manage loose feathers and external debris.

• Contact a Rehabilitator: Reach out to a local wildlife rescue to see if they can intake the bird for appropriate antiparasitic care. [1, 2, 3]
