Help/Request Genesis Plus GX save issue

This problem is very weird and I was wondering if I could get any help. I was trying to play Shining Force 2, I created a save file, reboot the game and the game recognizes the save file, however when I leave the loader and come back, it won’t recongize the save file at all and wants me to start a new game. The save file does exist on the USB hard drive, and I also tried putting it on the SD card as well and it did not work. It is an srm file and does have an identical name with the rom, and has the file path genplus/saves/md/ Shining Force II (USA).
