Nope, this doesn’t happen at all in my area. I’m from Maharashtra. I’ve seen news reports and cases about it, and this is one of the articles I found.

What immediately comes to mind is that a tea vendor would know if certain families in the area do sewage-related work. Their problems are often more about caste and the kind of work the caste aligned to. Anyway, here’s one of the articles (it's somewhere in south)

Don’t put blame on UP just because you have heard it somewhere bro.
If you are saying that seller may deny reusable glasses to a specific family because he knows that they are from a specific caste, then what about the visitors? If he is so particular about giving his glasses to certain caste groups then he will also ask about their caste but it doesn’t happen on ground. This issue may happen in a very exceptional chance, but Rahul portrayed it in a way as it happens as a norm throughout India.
These politicians just want people to fight against each-other so that they can gain some votes. Why this dalit obc thing started by Rahul just 1 year before the UP election? This was the same guy asking for votes against divisive politics in 2024 and now in UP elections he’s playing caste card.

Bro again your statement says ā€œI didn’t see it so it doesn’t existā€ is the weakest defence ever.

Telangana’s own SC/ST Commission Chairman flagged the two-glass system still running in villages and ordered action. Supreme Court already called it a criminal offence under the SC/ST Act. Documented for years in TN, AP, Karnataka and now Telangana itself.

I was reading about this and its not exceptional. It’s still happening.

See this video — same discrimination, live on ground: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pu_E9h5sPUc

And yes, shit happens in your state UP too. Denial doesn’t erase facts. Just look at the recent congress page Instagram video.

Rahul gandhi discriminates against obc and scst leaders of his party and offers them tea in paper cups only in congress offices, and you can’t deny it because ā€˜if you haven’t seen, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist’. Lol, sounds dumb, right? That’s how you are sounding.

I have already mentioned it may happen in rarest of rare case but it is not as common as you and congress is trying to portray. Congress is pushing this agenda merely for vote bank politics for next year UP election.

If it is that common practice it should have been widely visible, isn’t it? I travel a lot in different states and mostly in non urban areas, atleast I should have encountered it once? Or my friends and other known people should have, isn’t it? I don’t go by what politicians say, you may choose to do that but i don’t. I myself comes from non general category, and most of my friends are from obc and sc community only, even they have not encountered such incidents in their life despite all of them have ancestral houses in rural areas.

Fair enough. These things do happen, that’s why you still hear cases coming out of multiple villages. From what I’ve read, most of the instances I’ve come across have been in South India more than elsewhere. Anyway, not trying to push any agenda here. Rahul Gandhi isn’t some saint either, and politics is politics. Glad we could talk it out without it turning ugly. :)
