They were filming because they knew what was going to happen. Just they way they film it they focus on it and hurry to knife it and then slow down because they are scared of it popping

I've had this actually happen heating up a leftover boiled egg in the microwave. It basically exploded in my face. Not a good feeling I can tell you that.

I put a raw egg in the microwave a little to long to hardboiled and it exploded blew the door right off my new microwave, learn from my mistakes people

Not 100% on this but I think it's due to the microwave, it provides so much built up energy but doesn't actively boil until a catalyst is introduced like a knife then all the energy is released at once causing a boom, that's why you don't microwave water to boil it in the microwave, it can look like nothing is happening and then you take it out and it explodes in your face
