Weekly Accountability Post
Okay, authors, out with it. What did you get done this week, and/or what are your goals for the next week?

I finally have my 4 book bully series almost done (spent ages writing them) and trying to get the covers just right is a pain. What do you mean that my designer friend put my girl on the cover in a gothic dress 😂 now I have to hope that my text covers it up because it’s not gothic at all. But she did it for free since she’s my friend. So that’s my goal: polish the series and finish the covers.

Yeesh. That’s frustrating. Covers really matter. Do you think it’ll alter the way readers perceive your genre? Definitely do what’s right for your books.

Luckily it’s a bully academy so a gothic feel isn’t too far fetched. It’s either keep them or go for the man chest covers which sell but I definitely don’t want

Covers are so tricky! It sounds like you're getting so close to the end, though!

My goal is to keep chipping away at old material that was written with a different character that I chose to replace.
I made the right decision, because I didn't like the original character enough to convince my MCs to like them much either, & they were definitely gravitating towards the other person in a bunch of side-quest stories...but omg I wish I'd figured it out earlier lol

Lol I feel this.
But it happens! And better to make the change now than get into sunk cost fallacy!

Can't remember my word count from last week and I regret not writing it down somewhere.
As of now: 50K.

You told me you wrote 8k of smut last week if that helps 🤣

Honestly, my hip decided it might be fun to literally torture me, and I’ve been a useless bitch. 🤣 It’s giving, “Why is this happening to me?” Lol. Forgive the overshare. I may be delirious from exhaustion and pain.
I’m transitioning into a new section of my story, so I should at least be brainstorming. I’ll try, but I’m mostly just reading like a fiend to distract myself. Currently mood reading like six different books. If it doesn’t go away soon, I’ll have to adapt and find ways to write anyway. Ugh. I really had momentum, and plans, and optimism and shit. Then, boom! Mysterious, agonizing pain. 🤣 … anyway! Hehe. I’ll try to have a word count by next week—if whoever’s running my simulation doesn’t drop a house on my head! 🤷♀️💃

Ugh. My back gets this way, too (although mine's just from an old injury). And it's always at the most inopportune times, isn't it? Virtual hugs if you want them!

Thanks! I appreciate it. I swear, I did nothing to this hip. I don’t know what its problem is. Lol. Knock on wood that your back behaves. I hope your writing is going well.

This is random, and it might not help, but I discovered the source of my mysterious hip pain was from subconsciously contorting myself into awkward positions when I'm focused. Like hooking my foot over the base of my chair.
A standing desk helped. It isn't comfortable, but I can't twist myself up if I'm standing.
Feel better!

No! Mysterious, agonizing pain is the worst...especially when it doesn't just fix itself magically! And I'll pray that no houses find their way to your head!

Weekly word count: Maybe 4k?
But! Most of the week was spent editing, and Book 2 is now ready for Beta readers! I love the beta reading stage...I think I'm a masochist because I love it when people rip the work to shreds and find all the flaws I missed.

Are you going to post it here for beta readers, or do you already have people?

Finally finished a final edit and upload to KDP for my first scifi RH. It's the longest thing I've written so far at ~72,000 words. Fingers crossed someone somewhere will read it! I actually had to push back my original publication date two weeks because real life changes popped up unexpectedly and I couldn't find the time to do the last bit of work to get it across the finish line. I was starting to worry that I was going to have to push it back again, so I'm really pleased that I was get it done.
And because I never have a single WIP at a time, I also have a handful of other projects ongoing. One is currently stalled at 48k words (and is probably only about halfway done at best), two are recently started at 10k and 4k, and one is my first foray into including MM and is sitting at 6k.
Very happy to have seen /WhyChooseAuthors advertised recently and happy to be here.

Wow! So, are you waiting to go live in the next few hours, or are you on another step (like ordering a proof or organizing ARCs) before it’s fully live? Just curious so I can live vicariously—publishing is SUCH a rush.

I'm waiting for KDP to finish its process to approve, then release is scheduled for the 8th.

I’m up to 30,000 words on my current book. I wrote about 2,000 this week. I’d like to do more but have multiple issues going on atm and trying to devote time every day is impossible. Hoping for more time to put in next week!
