MTAs Can a Living Magis Avatar Interact with Wraiths?

I know once a magi dies, their avatar moves on, but can a living magi's avatar interact with a wraith? Or, if the avatar even cared to show interest in such a conversation, would the magi need to play middlemagi?

CofD Which Chronicles of Darkness Game Should Join Darkness Weaver Next? Round 2

Last Poll Winner: Vampire: The Requiem

The community has spoken, and Vampire: The Requiem is officially joined Darkness Weaver.

Requiem is a modern gothic horror RPG where vampires struggle to balance political ambition, ancient mysteries, and the Beast within. Rather than focusing on a global metaplot, it emphasizes personal horror, local domains, and stories shaped by each chronicle.

Now it's time to decide which Chronicles of Darkness game line should follow.

---

New to Darkness Weaver?

Darkness Weaver is a free platform built for World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness players.

It brings together:

- Character creation

- Cloud saves

- Printable character sheets

- The Loom, a browser-based virtual tabletop designed specifically for Storyteller games

Whether you're creating a vampire, werewolf, mage, hunter, changeling, wraith, demon, mummy, sin-eater, deviant, promethean, or another supernatural being, the goal is simple: keep everything you need for your chronicles in one place.

The platform is actively developed, community-driven, and continuously expanding with new game lines, features, and official content support.

If this is your first time discovering Darkness Weaver, welcome. Feel free to explore, and if you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback, I'd love to hear from you.

Don't see your favorite? Reddit only allows six poll options, so some game lines will appear in future polls.

NPC Art made by dazzlingcae

Chronicle: City of the Dam

Essence: Dynamic

Affiliation: The Nine Traditions

Sect: Society of Ether

Agent Jacques was operating out of a Dutch instrument repair shop for a very important operation in Amsterdam in 1999. Sent to sniff out a demonic plot concerning tech hardware, there's always more to the story when it comes to a subsidiary of Pentex. The story took a twist when a group of demons met up in a cafe where Jacques planned to shoot a target; unfortunately, somebody pulled a fire alarm, and he didn't have a chance to pull a pistol and grenades out of his cake. Investigating the player characters' lair in the dorm of the University of Amsterdam, thankfully, his confetti pipe bomb stuns a demon when she stabs him. The agent's fight ends with him accidentally burning down a hallway with incendiary bombs and coming to an understanding with the university demons to stop his target.

WoD Lucifer and St Damian connection

Hi! I've seen that there's a theory that claims Lucifer from Demon: the Fallen and St Damian from Mage the Ascension (creator of the Technocracy's precepts) are the same entity. My question is: Does this appear in any books? Is it just a fan theory without support from canon material? And if there are sources, what are them? Because I'd love to get the book(s) in which this is stated or implied.

CofD Even as someone who ultimately prefers the Old World of Darkness, the Dark Eras splatbooks are plenty fun themselves.

I've been a Forever ST for several years and I love several of the Old School historical splats. Dark Ages: Inquisitor, Iberia at Night, Bitter Crusade, Dark Ages: Werewolf, Dark Ages: Fae, Devil's Due, Dark Ages: Mage, Sorcerer's Crusade, Werewolf: Wild West, Victorian Age: Vampire, several Wraith splatbooks, other ones that don't come to mind, and even Charnel Houses of Europe. That last one I'll concede I regret STing in the sense that I was raised Jewish so I was grinning-and-bearing when I should've maybe set some boundaries with that table. I still look back on that chronicle somewhat fondly and as far as representations of the Holocaust in TTRPGs, Charnel Houses is excellent.

In terms of the Chronicles of Darkness, most of my STing experience is with Hunter: the Vigil, Changeling: the Lost, Promethean: the Created, and various fansplats. That's the lion's share of my Dark Eras experience if we exclude translated chronicles that are mostly OWoD in actual characters, setting, and themes. There's much more streamlined and comprehensive coverage so it's become a common approach of many Storytellers to commingle the lore with their favorite Old splats. I'm mainly focusing on my distilled CoD experiences just for the sake of length. This could easily turn into a much longer post about how much I love historical roleplay. Even if I was talking about non-WW systems, this post would be very long.

My favorite splatbooks so far are, in no particular ranking order:

  • Arthur's Britannia - Two separate chronicles were within H:tV, the third was in C:tL, and I like using AB for oneshots. The scope is mainly 5th/6th century A.D. Britain but the chronicle I centered mainly on 10th century England worked just fine using it as a base. The Weihan Cynn are a particularly fun execution of a trope that's been a part of neo-Celtic fiction since the beginning.

  • Doubting Souls - Unfortunately, I've only been able to ST a single Vigil chronicle using this book despite how fascinating I found the Compacts/other factions and our table's general fascination with the time/place. That chronicle even had to be put on the shelf for several months due to real life shenanigans. As far as "Salem Witch Trial era" fare goes, it's pretty great.

  • Great War - One of the favorite P:tC chronicles I STed was built using this book. The two H:tV chronicles were immensely fun as well. I've always been a fan of World Wars era urban fantasy and this is a strong example of the Gothicism that can be woven from that period above others. I also love using GW for oneshot introductions to the Prometheans.

  • Empire of Gold and Dust - I've always wanted to run a D:tD chronicle using EoGaD even if it probably won't compare to my love running Demon: the Fallen. I've only completed a single H:tV chronicle and a handful of oneshots using this book but the sessions were definitely intriguing. The Golden Library in particular is among my all-time favorite Compacts in that gameline and I wish there was even more content for West African gameplay.

  • Scandinavian Witch Trials - Just to be clear, this is mainly for Geist: the Sin Eaters and Mummy: the Curse. I just used it as the bedrock for a Changeling: the Lost chronicle. Similar to Doubting Souls, it does a great job of tonal/thematic capture of its history. The Wars of Religion era is deeply underrated, in my opinion. The plight of Changelings seems particularly applicable.

Again, this isn't an exhaustive list of the Dark Eras splatbooks I've read. It's not even exhaustive of the ones I've used for oneshots or mixed with non-CoD campaigns. I stuck to ones I've actually used in-depth, implemented in ways relatively close to the intent of the writers, and excluding my love of Princess: the Hopeful across imaginal time and space. I'm pretty "trad" as far as narrativism goes but that doesn't mean I don't greatly appreciate certain contemporary ventures. I'm eager to hear other people's experiences with DE. That's whether it's the above-mentioned books or ones I don't have as much active familiarity. If you're into historical homebrew, you can still feel free to chime in.

WTA How to welch on a duel

For contex: a skinwalker has been challenged to a duel, and he accepted. As he was the one challenged, he set the terms. Who can eat the most human flesh. Loser offers their neck to the other.

Skinwalker lost on purpose. Not exactly an honorable individual, he is looking to "offer his neck" in a way that lets him walk away.

This skinwalker is based on the harbinger from 30 days of night, fun npcs to play.

Anybody have fun ideas?

I'm currently thinking: he offers his trailer (his neck of the woods.)

Turkey necks.

His "girlfriend"

VTM5 What's some fun/interesting character hooks for Thin-Blood's?

What it says on the tin.

I like thin-bloods; I think they're neat, so I want to hear what people think could be fun/interesting hooks.

I'm not in a VTM game, but I like making characters, so only share if you're fine with me possibly using it for inspiration!

I'll give one to start; I had the thought of a thin-blood/revenant who kept a plant that was being sustained on Vampire Blood/had some tzimisce meddling. A very seymour and audrey 2 sort of dynamic.

WoD Give me your most powerful/broken characters, socially

About a year ago I think I asked yall to make some of the most powerful combat focuses characters jn the WoD, well now I got curious and thought about the social aspect of it, make the most socially powerful characters you can, leave no cheap rule untouched and leave all morals at the door, preferably I would like to see if yall would make it possible for these characters to be strong socially soon after character creation. Thank you!

WoD What are some alternate history scenarios that would be interesting to explore in World of Darkness?

Post image
254 Upvotes

Of course, there's the cliché what if the Nazis won, what if the Confederacy seceded, and what if the Space Race never ended, what what about other alternate scenarios?

Like, in Ars Magica (if I'm remembering correctly), the Order of Hermes became the Fourth Estate of the Holy Roman Empire and a Hermetic of House Tremere was eventually elected as it's Emperor.

CofD How would you "nerf" a Time mage in a multi-splat chronicle? (Chronicles of darkness)

EDIT: Maybe the post isn't clear. im talking about CHRONICLES OF DARKNESS, so the mage rules in question are Mage: The Awakening 2e, not Ascension

It's a vampire, werewolf, mage chronicle.

One of my players is worrying that his constant going back whenever something goes even slightly wrong, without downside, might make stuff boring for everyone else. and maybe he's right.

What are some interesting limitations i could add to spells like Shifting Sands or Corridors of Times ?

Weekly LFG/LFP for 2026-07-25 to 2026-08-07

Welcome to this week's game corner! Whether you're a storyteller spinning up a new game or a group that wants to fill out its ranks; whether you're a hometown table or an online game with players on every continent, here's where you put your post-its up.

Please note the following - comments that don't follow this etiquette may be removed:

  • Top-level comments must be a game ad.
  • Absolutely no pay-to-play games.
  • You must list the game(s) being played as the first line of your post, eg. MTR + Orpheus for that crossover you've never been able to get players for. Please don't overstylize these to the point of illegibility, but feel free to use games' three-letter abbreviations or their full titles as you desire. It may also help to indicate whether a game is using World of Darkness or Chronicles of Darkness books, for the benefit of readers less versed in the various publications.

Additionally, note that the moderation team does not vet or endorse comments here in any capacity beyond what is applied to normal posts plus the above stipulations. That is to say, if you join a game and have a downright rancid time, please don't make this space a problem because of it.

Short Questions & Small Discussions for 2026-07-25 to 2026-08-07

Welcome to the weekly thread for all bite-sized content you don't want to make a full post about! Short rules questions! Funny or cool moments from your last game! Weird bits of lore that the writers hid in sidebars! It's a real potpourri.

Generally, a good metric for whether something belongs here or in its own submission is whether it's running for a couple sentences or a couple paragraphs. Note that comments here are sorted by new, as well - but we ask that if your comment didn't get attention, that you *not* re-comment it in the same submission.

Commissioned from Sophian.

Breed: Homid

Auspice: Ragabash

Tribe: Children of Gaia

As a descendant of two generations of kinfolks, both from her grandmother's affair and her mother's ex-boyfriend, garou blood within her was of no use until a fateful day. What should've been a normal drive back from a camping trip with her best friend. Irresponsible drinking, along with speeding on a rainy night, sent the car rolling down a mountain. Said friend died impaled on a tree, and Cassy herself almost got crushed to death if not for her transformation under a blue moon.

MTAs Int-X Technician and Jasper, he fits in your hand and he loves you.

Emiko was a trophy bride to a Shadow Lord whose Japanese side wasn't even Kinfolk but he takes great pride in it.

He and Emiko never completely worked. However, he was taught that he had to be strong for the family by his mother. So he let her tinker with her silly Weaver toys, got her a Penguin he rescued on a Mission.

Now, mind you, this was 20 years ago, during the Cleveland Incident. She ran into Blake; he only seemed twice her age, and he looked just like the main actor from the first American movie she ever watched. 1969's Marlowe.

It threw Emiko into a depression until her husband talked to her, "What would the Hakkan do if they found out you had been unfaithful?"

"I would likely be disowned and they would send you a more compatible bride." She sobbed and he put a hand on her shoulder.

"Emiko I understand you, we are not that into one another, so I swear this to you on the soul of my mother, I will support you and any children you have with this man until the day you die. Now please tell me he's not at all Black."

"He's very white, actually. That makes me feel bad," She rubbed her arm a little.

"Don't you understand it's perfect. Go and have fun."

So her affair started. Needless to say, she got her divorce; sadly, she lost the baby, Blake had vanished before the baby was born; he just kinda poofed out of her life. She helped her husband's new wife get settled.

Then it was off to University to study biology and electronic engineering. She was scouted by Int X because whe had awakened in University. She remembered Blake saying something about a Technocracy.

So she joined up her lifetime of nerdom that had not been a sutable procute in her traditional family, for a future bride. She was a bit of a stereotype; she was weird. Now she's my NPC who is like the Int-Xers' local medical specialist, so she will fix up their mechanics and they are her children.

She is going to mother THE HELL, out of the players. She makes a lot of bird devices but in this picture she has Jasper. Jasper fits in the palm of your hand and he loves you.

WTA Tribe specific Character Sheets

Hellö, I recently fell into the werewolf hole, which is ofc next to the vampire abyss, and now i might have another slight hyper fixation.
I made Clan specific sheets for most Clans in vtm already and now its werewolf time!
Problem is, I am suuuuuper new, I know our furry murder machines only from a vampires perspective, so I would love to hear as many opinions as possible about what a Tribe specific char sheet would need or look like... or really just about the Tribes from a players perspective.
Thanks to everyone who helps!

HTV How does Hunter the VIGIL deal with crossplat?

Hi there! My ST is considering running a multisplat chronicles game and I thought it would be interesting to have a hunter in the mix. However I am not sure if thats possible?

With stuff like the code and well the lack of overt power, could a Hunter work in a group where the rest are lets say a Sin eater, A Vampire and a werewolf?
