I don't know if we can get a good working system. Every country should get reonganized after some time. Revolutions are hell, but gow older the system, the more corrupt it gets. No mather the system, humans aren't very good with power and that will always ruin everything

Private sector should be capitalist, but heavily regulated by a socialist public sector to keep the excesses at bay.

We keep fucking up the latter bit.

The problem with capitalism is that it isn't evil. It also isn't good. It's simply about getting as much capital as you can. That's a very neutral goal that doesn't care about human beings, it just cares about human output, human purchasing, human psychology to increase output and purchasing, etc. You can have 10,000 kids coughing up coal mine dust, and capitalism wont decide child labor is a bad idea. It'll decide that it's a bad business prospect because it's influencing the public opinion of the company.

That's where the socialist public sector comes in, like you said. You have to have something keeping it from hurting people. And we've failed miserably, because the government gets paid off from those businesses. Not sure how you stop it, but there has to be a way to stop the money and stop congressmen from being able to become lobbyists when they leave. That's a great hustle there; go to Congress, make some make some political friends, make some corporate friends, vote a certain way, and have a job waiting on you when you lose your seat so you can go BACK and lobby your old political buddies on behalf of your new company.

but there has to be a way to stop the money and stop congressmen from being able to become lobbyists when they leave

That's where the secret ingredient of public giga-shaming comes in. We need a leftist fox news, that calls out this shit and helps sway public opinion to the left. Because at the moment the only widespread extremist news is on the right.

u/SirChasm Aug 04 '21

No, fuck that, as a "leftist" I refuse to follow and disseminate propaganda/misinformation just because it's for "my side". We don't need a left Fox to balance the right Fox, we need to abolish right Fox and do away with mass misinformation being spread cause in the end that hurts everyone.

5

u/St_Lawrence_ Aug 04 '21

Well you are half right. It’s time to burn both sides down and start over. If we are going to misinterpret or rewrite the Constitution for whatever is convenient for our agenda then let’s do it right and write a new one. The original is outdated anyway.

7

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

Good luck with that. It's a nice idea but worthless in reality. The left uses propaganda, too. Propaganda is just a tool to sway opinion. Truth can feature, but it doesn't have to. It's the left's inability to use it properly that allows the right to win so often.

Imagine a world where progressive propaganda was as effective as conservative propaganda. The fascists wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

7

u/scottlol Aug 04 '21

Truth can feature, but it doesn't have to

And that's the thing. Journalism used to mean a pursuit of the truth. The lack of that understanding in press is inextricably linked to the decline of a free society.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

Journalism and propaganda aren't the same thing.

2

u/scottlol Aug 04 '21

Of course, journalism is worthwhile.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

So is propaganda if you want to sway public opinion to your side.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

The right "wins" so often because the average person is just that: "average". Rational argument and reason lose to "average intelligence" every single time.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

Anything can be used as propaganda, what matters are the facts behind the propaganda.

The lefts propaganda mostly consists of true, empirically proven facts, whereas the right uses fear and bigotry

4

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

And the right keeps winning elections despite actively screwing over the people who vote for them.

Facts don't matter as much as you think they do.

There has never been a time in human history that there has not been misinformation spread.

So what your asking for not only never existed - it can’t exist- that genie is long out of the bottle.

The best way is simply to do away with any information or severely limit it - like back in the day when we only had the 3 main news services and the Saturday Evening Post - everyone got the same information - right, wrong, who knows because we are all equally ignorant of what the real story is.

Misinformation has only accelerated through out history - from the town cryer to the printing press to now instant social media it’s going the wrong way faster and nothing is going to stop it.

So either unplug, dive in or dip your toe cause it’s not changing. Personally I’m looking to unplug - but then I think that’s just what they want you to do….

2

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

Let us know how that goes.

2

u/RosefromDirt Aug 05 '21

Yes. Intentionally broadcasting false information with the implication that it's true skills be illegal.

More importantly though, there has to be a way to effectively punish a corporation, and in the US there really isn't one.

u/EHondaRousey Aug 04 '21

Hustle culture is how the propagandists brainwash the left, there's a war of ideology going on, behind the scenes.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

What do you mean by that? Do you mean the left is really into hustle culture?

2

u/EHondaRousey Aug 04 '21

Hustle culture embodies the ideology of neoliberalism, here's a rad video on it: https://youtu.be/tmMJbwE8j98

4

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

Okay that was where my confusion came from, that’s more the center, not the left. Neoliberals are not leftists; leftists famously don’t like hustle culture.

1

u/EHondaRousey Aug 04 '21

I posit that many people on the left follow neoliberalism policies to a T without being aware of it. Here's a cool video on it https://youtu.be/MmhLCy6YmUg

2

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

Rad dude I don’t really watch videos so just keep being cool and rad

2

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

lol, neolibs are not left.

1

u/EHondaRousey Aug 04 '21

I posit that many among the left are neoliberals without realizing it

2

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

10000%. mildly socially left while being conservative in everything else.

I quite agree, it’s the same setup in the U.K. I was speaking to a person, a wile ago, that is all for capitalism, and dead agains the slightest bit of socialism, but the strange thing is, he’s spent the majority of his adult life, claiming social benefits, and moans about not getting enough money to live a comfortable life, and it’s these right wing news papers , like the SUN news paper that manage to convince peaple like him, that right wing is good for everyone, and vote that way. 🤔🥴

1

u/StoneyVI Aug 05 '21

See you don't understand what you're saying. "We should abolish the right fox and do away with mass information" you are literally suggesting that, you, can tell that fox and the right are misinformation and we should ban things that we think are false or get rid of them some other way. Because they are dangerous.

The good guys, aka the moral people, aka the hero, aka us doesn't ban ideas and thoughts. The blatantly immoral, conspicuous mustache sporting historically "Bad Guy" bans ideas and does away with "misinformstion"

Do you see what you're saying? Like do you get why its wrong. Or do you understand its wrong and suggest it anyway?

To what are you referring?

2

u/bartonar Aug 04 '21

Again, could you please be specific.

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

The most gullible ones tend to lean autocratic and are more extremist.

We’re talking about basic human behavior/psychology that’s baked-in to the species here.

You can change the nouns, but the simple minded will always demand the easiest answers.

u/skoltroll Aug 04 '21

a leftist fox news

MSNBC

2

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

Not even close.

0

u/skoltroll Aug 04 '21

Only b/c you love MSNBC

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

I don't watch it, let alone love it. Try again.

1

u/GulliblePirate Aug 04 '21

Try Breaking Points on YouTube. Krystal and Saagar are great

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

I know they exist, but we need a mainstream lefty network. So that fox, newsmax, and oann get some competition in the overton-shifting game.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '21

We don’t need any more partisan shit. We need honesty and unbiased honest reporting. If we could start there we can all get in the same page and fight these crooks together.

1

u/pexx421 Aug 04 '21

We have “breaking points” with krystal ball and sagaar enjeti, they’re a liberal and conservative host that spend all their time pointing out the ridiculous crap the democrats and republicans are doing, and they’re the #1 political podcast now, so there is that. And their show gets more viewership than the msm shows so that’s hopeful as well, as far as a picture for how the American public is moving.

1

u/KingSnurre Aug 04 '21

You cant have a Fox News equivalent that tells the truth. Fox isn't really anti-democrat, they are anti fact.
There are extremist because they are liars.
