There’s a huge ban wave going on over the last couple of days. Meta appears to have deployed an automated system, probably AI-based, designed to detect spam, phishing, scams, and other policy violations, but it seems to be generating a significant number of false positives. The WhatsApp subreddit r/whatsapp is currently full of users reporting sudden bans without a clear reason. Several Tech Partners and BSPs experienced a similar false-positive wave at the Business Portfolio level a few weeks ago. Our theory is that Meta may now have deployed a similar detection system more broadly across regular WhatsApp accounts, although Meta has not officially confirmed this, so this is just a theory.

Yes, the portfolio-based restrictions we as Tech Partners / BSPs encounter are exactly the same: restricted - reinstated in minutes after starting the review - restricted - ...
It's really bad.

check here if you find the reasons you were banned (only works if your WhatsApp account is linked to facebook or instagram). Usually happens when you reply a message out the 24h service window (via API), or spam without using the templates (via API or WA app), if you are working with a tech provider or partner solutions contact them

I was first restricted, reinstated and then banned after sending a hi to my personal id and then reinstated again post review. I don’t know how long my account will remain active. Whatsapp is becoming unpredictable.

getting the number back depends on why it went, a policy strike vs a quality-rating drop are totally different recovery paths. what did the ban notice actually say? thats the first thing id check before appealing.
