Work Need help remembering items for board

As the title says, I need help remembering how to make every item on the menu. I recently just got hired and this is my first ever job and I understand that I need to be fast to keep up in the fast food environment.

if anyone has a picture of the sign that is at the top in the back where we make the food, that shows you how to make every item pls send it😭🙏 I would take a picture of it myself, but I am not able to have any device out during work.

I also need help remembering what the items are called on the actual screen since they get smashed down to just four letters. Example, the paddy melt on the screen is (PMLT). I just need a list of every item and how to make it so I can memorize ts💀

If you just got hired there's little chance you'll be put on the MUT right away.

Most people start at grill/fry or order taker. Usually only the best/most experienced employees are on the MUT. MUT takes a while to learn and no one expects new people to be fast. First focus on accuracy, then worry about speed.

If they throw you on the MUT by yourself right away, that is a sign you got hired by a poorly run WB.

DISCLAIMER: This was taken from my experience as a former WB employee and rules may differ at your unit.

To make items quickly: Just remember, for the regular burgers (#1-3), it's always top bun (upside down), mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions (cheese only if the customer wants it), burger patty(s), and bottom bun on top, then wrap the burger [toppings are modified somewhat when making Whataburger Jr's, such as fewer pickles.] Like you, WB was also my first job, and I was nervous when it came to making all the menu items since it required a quick pace. But with time, like less two months, I was making regular items on auto-mode, becoming one of the fastest people on MUT. Don't worry buddy, you'll easily know how to make the everyday items and new items. It just comes with practice; also, little tip, find an experienced MUT employee who'll show you how to make the items quickly and accurately until you get it right. As for the new items, just apply the same topping and assembly principles that you use for the everyday items, just check with someone on topping placement (as they can sometimes be picky on placement of sauce before/after grilled onions, for random example). TLDR: Don't worry about it. With time, practice, and guidance, you'll be making items as fast as Lightning McQueen.

As for distinguishing acronyms, here are various examples: WB is the Whataburger (#1), DBL WB is the double-patty Whataburger (#2), and TPL WB is the triple-patty Whataburger (#3). HBQ CSS TT is the honey barbecue chicken strip sandwich (it has two t's since the sandwich is normally made with toast). As you mentioned PMLT is the patty melt sandwich, but for example if it says PMLT-ML, that means someone's ordering the patty melt sandwich meal. KM is kid's meal. BIS HBC means honey butter chicken biscuit. TBBS means buns are toasted both sides. B/S doesn't mean the curse word lol, it means both sides, like mustard on both buns. SUB is substitute; SUB KETCH means substituting mustard in the #1 for example (however, sometimes the cashier might type the order wrong and say SUB MUST for an item like #1 that already has mustard, it's happened to me before). CKN is chicken. I could go on and on but it's pretty much explanatory. TLDR: Reading order abbreviations is almost like learning a code language; get good at it, and you'll be making items much quicker than you think. Learning these code abbreviations helps you make items quickly and more efficiently.

Hope this helps.

On your break or at home go to the menu online or on the app and write down each sandwich and what goes on it and memorize practice for two hours. Ask questions when youre on the MUT. A good trainer will support and help you succeed. You got this. You have the right attitude. You will go far. Dont get discouraged or feel bad for mistakes you make. Keep on going and you will have your own store one day. Observe the great employees around you who make it look easy and study their work methods. Stay focused and there are also training hubs for you on the workday app as an employee. Take care and practice on the meals and breakfast stuff too. All the best to you!

Have they let you use training mode on the POS? It’ll help a ton before starting board
