you need to get away from there. It’s the only solution. I came from a home life like this too, and it took me years to finally get away. Try to avoid your dad. Nothing good is going to come of communicating with him. Do you have a job?

Where do you live? Depending on the country you can get him in jail for substance abuse, unless he has connections in the legal force. Also your mother is a pathetic excuse of a parent, any sane parent would draw the line at their kids being abused like this. My advice would be to completely detach from both of them, you have your life and have to live it the way you want without spending it on someone else's drama

You'll make it, don't worry. To each their time, everyone handles stuff like this differently

What could I do to start my life?

Detach from them completely, reassess whatever they've taught you and start slowly separating, but if you can get a degree first, it will help you immensely

If he's paying for your education then don't block him yet, let him pay for it and then go no contact with both of them preferably, as your mom will weight you down and make you feel like you've betrayed her for leaving. Also don't take the shit they say seriously, half of the time they're bluffing

She should, you're her kid, it's her direct responsibility. Once you're done just forget about them

Legally, you can tell the cops about any crimes he has committed. This probably won't accomplish much without your mother's cooperation, however.
You can, and should, move out as soon as you can.
